Silver Nanoparticles Loaded Polyurethane Composites for Antibacterial Medical devices
Abstract: Polyurethane (PU) polymer is widely used in biomedical application. In our study we have combined polyurethane with silver nanoparticles to develop a nanocomposite material for antibacterial medical applications. Such combination has antibacterial properties and control the toxicity too. In current research we have mixed the different sizes and types of silver nanoparticles into the polyurethane matrix. The result was their antibacterial activity, mechanical strength, and biocompatibility. The antibacterial performance of …

Water Chestnut Stem-Derived Biochar Supported AgNPs/AC-CTS-PVA Composite Gel for Wastewater Treatment and Potent Antibacterial Performance
Abstract: In the present study, green and efficient Ag-NPs functionalized activated carbon/chitosan-polyvinyl alcohol (AgNPs/AC-CTS-PVA) composite gel was successfully synthesized using water chestnut stem-derived biochar for wastewater treatment and antibacterial applications. The composite was characterized by FTIR, XRD, SEM-EDX, and TGA analyses, confirming the successful incorporation of crystalline Ag nanoparticles within the polymeric matrix and improved thermal stability. The material was tested regarding the removal of the dye of methylene blue (MB) …

Synthesis, Antibacterial Evaluation and Antifungal Study of New Biochemical Derivatives
Abstract: Bacterial and fungal infections have become widespread recently due to the spread of epidemics, diseases, and bacterial infections. As a result, infection rates have increased, prompting many researchers to develop new antibiotics to reduce the spread of these prevalent diseases. Researchers have prepared biochemical compounds similar in structure to drugs that eliminate infections and reduce their spread. One such derivative is imidazole; a well-known compound used in many medications for …

Chitosan-based Polymer Composites for Antibacterial and Antiviral Drug Applications
Abstract: The natural substance chitosan is made from chitin. It is used a lot in medicine because it is safe for the body, breaks down naturally, and kills germs. To find out how chitosan-based polymer mixes could be used to make drugs that kill germs and viruses, this study looks into them. By reacting with the cell walls of bacteria, chitosan has been shown to kill bacteria and stop viruses from …

Exploring the Bioactive Potential of Himalayan Lichens: Phytochemical and Antimicrobial Profiling of Xanthoparmelia tinctina and Pyxine subcinerea Extracts
Abstract: The symbiotic association that develops between cyanobacteria, algae, and fungi results in the composite organism known as lichens, which has traits similar to those of plants but differs in its separate parent organisms. Lichens can have a variety of morphological characteristics, including foliose structures that resemble flat leaves, crustose structures that resemble flake crystals, fruticose branches that have short, leafless branches, and leprose-powder-like appearances. Due to their therapeutic potential, lichens …

Formulation and Evaluation of Topical Anti-Acne Gel from Coriander and Garlic Extract
Abstract: Objective: To develop and evaluate a topical anti-acne gel formulated using aqueous extracts of coriander (Coriandrum sativum) and garlic (Allium sativum). The study aims to assess the antibacterial efficacy of the gel against acne-causing bacteria, specifically Propionibacterium acnes. Methods: 1.Extraction: Coriander Extract: Aqueous extraction was performed by soaking coriander seeds in distilled water, followed by filtration. Garlic Extract: Non-chemical extraction involved mixing crushed garlic with honey in a 1:1 ratio …

Characterization of Synthesized Heterocyclic Oxadiazole Derivatives Using Mass, UV, IR, and NMR Spectroscopy, Among other Spectroscopic Techniques: Review
Abstract: The current study synthesized and assessed 3-heteroarylazo 4-hydroxy coumarin derivatives' initial antibacterial activities in vitro against four distinct pathogenic bacterial strains, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Bacillus subtilis, Escherichia coli, and Staphylococcus aureus. Ampicillin, a common medication, was used to compare each compound's antibacterial properties. UV, IR, 1H NMR, mass spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction examinations were used to analyze the compounds. By using UV–vis spectra, the solute-chromic behavior of these compounds was …

Synergistic and Antagonistic Effects of Azo-Schiff Base with Some Antibiotics on Gram-Positive Bacterial Isolates
Abstract: Antibacterial resistance has brought an urgent need to find a solution to the problem of antibacterial resistance and increase the effectiveness of antibiotics. Therefore, our current study was aimed to test the three concentrations viz., 0.5 mg/ml, 5 mg/ml and 50 mg/ml of Azo-Schiff base against Grampositive bacteria—Bacillus cereus, Micrococcus lutes, Staphylococcus aureus—to compare the effects of Schiff base alone or along with antibiotics on the viability of bacteria. Our …
