Lesser-Known Metabolites Influencing Ovarian Function, Follicular Development, and Embryo Viability in Dairy Cows
Abstract: The intricate processes of ovarian function, follicular development, and embryo viability in dairy cows are tightly regulated by a complex network of metabolites. While conventional biomarkers, such as steroid hormones, amino acids, and glucose metabolites, have been extensively studied, a growing body of evidence suggests that lesser-known metabolites play pivotal roles in bovine reproductive physiology. Dairy cattle fertility is critical for maintaining optimal milk production and herd sustainability, necessitating deeper …

Long-Term Effects of Feeding High-Lignin Forage to Ruminants: Implications for Productivity, Health, and Sustainability
Abstract: The long-term feeding of high-lignin forage to ruminants can significantly impact various aspects of animal performance, health, and environmental sustainability. Lignin, a complex phenolic compound present in plant cell walls, is indigestible by rumen microbes, leading to reduced fiber digestibility and decreased nutrient utilization. Over time, feeding ruminants with forages high in lignin results in a decline in voluntary dry matter intake (DMI), inefficient energy and protein absorption, and suboptimal …

Host-Pathogen Coevolution: Implications for Immune Evasion and Pathogen Fitness
Abstract: The interaction between hosts and pathogens represents a continuous evolutionary struggle, shaping both microbial virulence and host immunity. Pathogens employ diverse strategies to evade immune surveillance, ranging from antigenic variation and molecular mimicry to hijacking of host immune checkpoints. Simultaneously, hosts refine innate and adaptive immune mechanisms to counteract infection and limit damage. This reciprocal adaptation, known as host–pathogen coevolution, influences pathogen persistence, transmission, and fitness, while also sculpting immune …

A Comparative Analytical Study on Gandhaka Ointment Prepared by Two Different Oleaginous Bases – As a Thesis Article
Abstract: Gandhaka (purified sulphur) is broadly used in Ayurvedic dermatological preparations, particularly in Malahara Kalpana (ointment formulations), due to its well-known antimicrobial and skin-healing properties. Although classical Ayurvedic texts, such as Rasa Shastra and Bhaishajya Kalpana, do not directly mention Gandhaka ointment, Rasatarangini by Acharya Sadanand Sharma describes four discrete methods for preparing Gandhaka Taila (sulphur-infused oil). In this study, the third method was selected to prepare Gandhaka Taila using two …

Marine Algal Microfiber and Agro-Waste Reinforced Crosslinked Polymer Composites for Sustainable Coastal Materials
Abstract: Crosslinked bio-polymer composites reinforced with marine algal microfibers and agro-waste fillers were fabricated and systematically characterized for sustainable coastal applications. Mechanical testing revealed that tensile strength increased from 18.5 MPa for neat polymer to 25.1 MPa at 20 wt.% reinforcement (~35% improvement), while the flexural modulus improved from 0.72 GPa to 1.02 GPa (~42% increase). Impact strength, however, decreased from 3.8 kJ/m² for neat polymer to 2.9 kJ/m² at 30 …

Persistent Atmospheric and Ecosystem Impacts of Enteric Methane Emissions from Intensive Livestock Production Systems
Abstract: Enteric methane emissions from intensive livestock production systems exert a significant long-lasting influence on atmospheric stability and ecosystem integrity. Recent observations confirm that global methane emissions continued to rise through the early 2020s, with total emissions exceeding 620 teragrams per year by 2024, driven by expanding ruminant production and associated feed systems. Anthropogenic sources accounted for more than 330 teragrams per year, reflecting sustained growth in agricultural and fossil fuel …

Integrating Livestock for Enhancing Sustainability of Soil, Water and Agroecosystem: Implications from a One Health Perspective
Abstract: Livestock systems play a pivotal role in sustaining environmental health, enhancing ecosystem services, and supporting agricultural productivity. Well-managed integration of livestock into agroecosystems contributes to soil fertility through organic matter deposition, microbial stimulation, and nutrient cycling, while improving soil structure and long-term productivity. Grazing and pasture management regulate water infiltration, retention, and hydrological balance, mitigating soil erosion and enhancing water-use efficiency. Livestock also promote biodiversity by maintaining habitat heterogeneity, facilitating …

Plant-Derived Antimicrobials as Next-Generation Solutions to Multidrug Resistance
Abstract: The steady rise of multidrug-resistant (MDR) pathogens is reshaping how clinicians, researchers, and policymakers think about infection control. When bacteria acquire the ability to survive exposure to three or more antibiotic classes at once—whether through efflux pumps, enzyme-mediated drug destruction, target modifications, or reduced membrane permeability—treatment options narrow dramatically, hospital stays lengthen, and mortality climbs. Conventional pharmaceutical pipelines have struggled to keep pace with this biological arms race, pushing the …
