Mucosal Defense Mechanism in Fish: An Overview
Abstract: Mucosal surfaces are important physical barriers whose main function is to protect the systemic environment of the body against microbial invasion. It is the first line of defense to protect the animal and also functioning as an active immune tissue. Four mucosal-associated lymphoid tissues (MALTs), which start the immune responses are skin, gills, gut, and nose, have been reported in fish. Humoral and cellular immunity, their regulation and the factors …

Molecular Surveillance of Spring Viraemia of Carp Virus (SVCV) and Koi Herpesvirus (KHV) Across Major Aquaculture Zones of Telangana, India
Abstract: Viral diseases represent a persistent threat to cyprinid aquaculture; however, region-specific surveillance data from tropical production systems remain limited. To address this gap, a comprehensive statewide active surveillance programme was undertaken across Telangana, India, from 2019 to 2022 to investigate the occurrence of two priority transboundary pathogens, Spring Viraemia of Carp Virus (SVCV) and Koi Herpesvirus (KHV). A total of 414 fish specimens were systematically collected from five surveillance sectors …

Aquaculture Advancements Through Bioactive Molecules
Abstract: A wide range of seafood species – including fish, shellfish, squid, and bivalves – generate by-products that are often discarded as waste. However, these by-products hold great potential for developing innovative functional food products. Because there is limited opportunity to recycle natural resources, the loss of profit may be accompanied by the loss of ecological sustainability, given that the “wastes” of industrial processing can account for up to 75% of …

Comparative Study Between Dashavatara (Incarnation) and Darwinian Theory of Evolution
Abstract: The word Dashavatara derives from Dasha, meaning “Ten”, and Avatara, roughly equivalent to “Incarnation”. Lord Vishnu manifested in various avatars to safeguard the universe and reinstate “peace and dharma” during the four distinct yugas, or cosmic cycles. The Hindu text Dashavatara, which describes ten forms of Lord Vishnu, has a better developed theory of evolution than the hypothesis put out by English scientist Charles Darwin in the 17th century. Objective …
