Assessing Land use Dynamics and Policies in the Waghur Basin Using Geospatial Techniques
Abstract: Changes in land use and land cover (LULC) are key indicators of human–environment interactions, especially in river basins where anthropogenic pressure is increasing. This study evaluated land use change and policy implications in the Waghur Basin, India, through a geospatial analysis of 35 years (1990–2025). Remote sensing and GIS-based supervised classification with the help of machine learning methods were applied to multi-temporal Land satellite images to create LULC maps and …

The Effect of Spatial Distribution of Public Amenities on Residential Property Rental Value
Abstract: In major cities around the world, the rental value has indeed been increasing at an unprecedented rate because of the rising demand for residential properties in urban areas. Residential building characteristics, neighborhood characteristics, accessibility factors, and amenities are all factors that influence residential rental value. These amenities lead to rent differentials. The links that exist between residential property rental values and various physical and locational dwelling features, amenities, and so …

Spatiotemporal Modeling of Soil Erosion Under Agricultural Expansion in the Amravati Basin, India Using RUSLE–GIS
Abstract: Agricultural expansion and soil erosion are important environmental issues in areas where agriculture is a major source of livelihood. This study analyzes the spatial and temporal patterns of soil erosion in the Amravati Basin of Maharashtra and evaluates the impact of agricultural expansion using the Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation (RUSLE) integrated with Geographic Information System (GIS) techniques. Multi-source data, such as satellite imagery, rainfall records, soil characteristics, and topography …

Community Perception on Land Dispossession and Compensation Practices: Evidence from Gondar City, Northwest Ethiopia
Abstract: Land expropriation for urban expansion in the Gondar area significantly reduced farming households from 95%–74%, displacing 29% of affected farmers. While some acknowledged the public benefits, most respondents criticized the process for a lack of transparency, limited community involvement, and inadequate rehabilitation support. Farmers reported receiving compensation that was low, unfairly calculated, and subject to prolonged delays. Key systemic issues included a lack of awareness among affected communities, inconsistent knowledge …

Understanding India’s Sustainable Land Management Research Landscape: Productivity, Collaboration, and Emerging Themes (2016–2025)
Abstract: Sustainable Land Management (SLM) has emerged as a critical research domain in India due to increasing land degradation, climate variability, population pressure, and competing land-use demands. Understanding the evolution, structure, and impact of scholarly research in this field is essential for guiding future research and policy interventions. This study presents a comprehensive scientometric assessment of India’s SLM research output during the period 2016–2025. Bibliographic data comprising 1,560 records were retrieved …

Land surface dynamics: A Multiphysics Approach to Modeling Mass Transport
Abstract: Land surface dynamics are governed by complex interactions among hydrological, atmospheric, and geomorphological processes that collectively drive the transport of mass across terrestrial environments. Traditional modeling approaches often isolate individual mechanisms, limiting their ability to capture the coupled feedbacks that shape landscape evolution. This study presents a multiphysics framework for modeling mass transport on land surfaces, integrating fluid flow, sediment transport, heat exchange, and chemical reactions within a unified computational …

Biodiversity Loss and Its Impact on Dietary Land Diversity and Nutritional Status: A Comprehensive Review
Abstract: Habitat destruction, climate change, overexploitation, and agricultural intensification contribute to the current predicament in global food systems: Loss of biodiversity means less plant and animal species to be utilized. This study examines and synthesizes the available literature in PubMed and Scopus on how losses in biodiversity adversely affect people’s diets and nutritional status, especially in the case of malnutrition and missing key micronutrients of certain demographic cohorts. Principal factors are …

ASSESSING OF FOREST STRUCTURE USING EARTH OBSERVATION DATA: ACASE STUDY IN MUNESSA FOREST, OROMIA REGION, ETHIOPIA
Abstract: Forest structure is essential for estimating forest-related carbon emissions, analyzing forest degradation, and quantifying the effectiveness of forest restoration initiatives. However, forest structure quantification is only limited to the specific area of interest without considering the whole forest coverage. Remote sensing data can easily deliver a large area to assess forest structure. Therefore, this study aims to assess forest structure of Munessa Natural Forest by integrating satellite based light detection …
