Variations of Macroplastics in Water and Sediments at Bundu Waterfront, Upper Bonny Estuary, Rivers State, Nigeria
Abstract: Macroplastic pollution has become an increasingly severe environmental challenge, particularly in urban waterfronts where waste management is inadequate. Bundu Waterfront of the Upper Bonny Estuary in Port Harcourt, Rivers State is a sink for macroplatics from careless disposal of solid wastes and inadequate management thus affecting the biological integrity and aquatic life of this estuary. The resultant impact of the macroplastics on abiotic factors through the evaluation of different floating …

Real-time Water Quality Analysis Using Fuzzy Logic
Abstract: Nowadays the availability of safe drinking water is very difficult. In our project we are analysing water quality using different parameters like pH, turbidity, temperature and TDS for determining its safety level by monitoring the data from the readings. Moreover, we have a monitoring system for the data and also a webpage where all the data from these system is displayed. The sensors are connected to an Arduino Nano microcontroller …

Grey Water Recycling
Abstract: Domestic grey water recycling and reuse in residential buildings have been comprehensively examined. It is estimated that recoverable grey water can account for approximately 35% to 40% of total household water demand, highlighting its substantial potential to reduce freshwater consumption in domestic settings. A comprehensive worldwide review of grey water recycling and reuse practices has been reported, highlighting the increasing importance of sustainable water management in both developed and developing …

Bioscouring And Anionization of Waste Cotton Fabric for Efficient Removal of Malachite Green Dye
Abstract: Adsorption is an efficient method for dye removal but the high cost of adsorbents limits its use, emphasizing the need for sustainable, low-cost alternatives. This study explores the usage of modified cotton fabric for the treatment of malachite green (cationic dye) from wastewater. Cellulase extracted from Raphanus sativus and Daucus carota were evaluated for bioscouring potential which was confirmed by scanning electron microscopy. Further, cotton fabric was chemically modified using …

Water Comparative Study of Water Quality
Abstract: Water quality plays a vital role in safeguarding human health, maintaining environmental balance, and supporting socio-economic progress. For drinking purposes, water must satisfy established physical and chemical criteria to minimize health hazards and ensure the efficient functioning of biological processes. This research focuses on a comparative assessment of drinking water quality by analyzing key parameters such as pH, Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), hardness, and fluoride levels in both tap water …

Waste-Heat Recovery Systems for Sustainable Industrial Energy Management
Abstract: Industrial processes consume vast amounts of energy, often resulting in substantial heat losses to the environment. Waste-heat recovery (WHR) systems provide a viable solution to harness this otherwise lost thermal energy, improving overall energy efficiency, reducing operational costs, and contributing to sustainable industrial practices. This study investigates the design, implementation, and optimization of waste-heat recovery systems across various industrial sectors, including power generation, chemical processing, cement production, and steel manufacturing. The …

Advanced Water Purification Techniques for Sustainable Clean Water Management: A Comprehensive Review
Abstract: The growing global demand for safe drinking water, coupled with increasing pollution from industrialization, urbanization, and agricultural activities, has intensified the need for efficient and sustainable water purification technologies. Conventional water treatment processes often fail to remove emerging contaminants such as pharmaceuticals, microplastics, endocrine-disrupting compounds, and heavy metals. Advanced water purification technologies—including membrane filtration, advanced oxidation processes (AOPs), nanotechnology-based adsorbents, photocatalysis, electrochemical treatment, and bio-inspired purification systems—have emerged as promising …

Model to Predict a Split Range Control of Hot and Cold Water System
Abstract: Mathematical model was developed to monitor, predict, and stimulate hot and cold water system using split range control application. Computer program language of MATLAB software of ODE function was applied to monitor the trend of temperature parameter in the system. Result obtained revealed decrease in temperature value of the hot water and increase in the temperature value of cold water until equilibrium was attained at 132°F at > 1.0 h. …

Treatment of Textile Industrial Wastewater using Hydrophilized Polyamide Nanofiltration Membrane for Water Recovery and Reuse
Abstract: The textile industry is very water intensive. Water is used for cleaning the raw material and for many flushing steps during the entire production process. During the process a large quantity of wastewater is produced which consists of dyes, heavy metals, pigments, and surfactants in high concentration levels all around the world. Dyes and other chemical laden wastewater released by textile industries is a major concern for the treatment which …
