Abstract: In the present study, the Asian green mussel, Perna viridis, was exposed to 50, 75, 113, 160 and 253 µg/L Hg concentrations under chronic toxicity for the assessment of biochemical biomarkers. Higher levels of glutathione S-transferase (GST), reduced glutathione (GSH), lipid peroxidation (LPO) and lower levels of protein, catalase (CAT) and acetylcholinesterase (AchE) were found. The values were found to be significant at P < 0.01. This study suggests that …

Levels of Environmental Pollutants and Urinary 1-Hydroxypyrene among Foundry Workers
Abstract: Environmental and biological monitoring was conducted to measure the Total Suspended Particulate Matter (TSPM), SO2,NOx and 1-OHP among foundry workers. Among the various sampling locations melting (2466 μg/m3) and fettling (2951 μg/m3) recorded higher concentration of TSPM. The concentration of NOx and SO2 ranged between 288– 352 μg/m3 and 3.11-10.97μg/m3,respectively. Among the various heavy metals analysed, the concentration of zinc and nickel was the maximum. Although the environmental monitoring study …

Synthesis of Brassinosteroid with Signaling and Response to Abiotic Stress: Review
Abstract: Brassinosteroids (BRs) are a group of plant steroid hormones with multiple roles in plant growth, development, and responses to stresses and signaling functions to promote cell expansion and cell division and plays a role in etiolation and reproduction. The entire synthetic pathway of sterol biosynthesis is brassinolide (BL) from the general campesterol synthesis pathway in Arabidopsis. Campesterol converts to BL in two different ways campesterol dependent or campesterol independent pathway. …
