Analysis of Gold Price Trend Using the Hidden Markov Model
Abstract: This study aims to analyze the behavior of gold prices in India through a two-state Hidden Markov Model (HMM). We first formulated crucial parameters, such as the Transition Probability Matrix (TPM), Initial Probability Vector (IPV), and Emission Probability Matrix (EPM). Subsequently, we constructed a hidden Markov probability distribution and evaluated Pearson’s coefficients to gauge the correlations separately for each state. The goodness of fit of the developed model was assessed …

A Study on the Influence of Cashew and Pawpaw Leaf on Soil Density Treatment of Contaminated Swampy and Clay Soils
Abstract: Soil density is a key parameter in assessing soil health and structure, often employed as a potential index in bioremediation studies. This study investigates the impact of bioremediation treatments using Cashew Leaf (Anacardium occidentale) and Pawpaw Leaf (Carica papaya) on the density of swampy and clay soils over time. The results show that both treatments, in varying quantities, influence the soil's density by reducing the post-contamination density to levels closer …

Exploring Antimalarial Activity of Chalcone Derivatives through QSAR
Abstract: Background: The core structure of chalcones contains a reactive α,β-unsaturated system within the aromatic rings, which plays a key role in mediating various biological effects. These effects include enzyme inhibition, anticancer activity, anti-inflammatory properties, as well as antibacterial, antifungal, antimalarial, antiprotozoal, and anti-filarial actions.Modifying the structure by introducing substituent groups to the aromatic ring can enhance potency, reduce toxicity, and expand their range of pharmacological actions. Methods: A total of twenty-seven …

Mechanisms of Crystal Growth: From Spiral Steps to Surface Adhesion
Abstract: Crystal growth is a complex interplay between thermodynamic stability and kinetic processes, influenced heavily by the conditions under which crystallization occurs—particularly the degree of supersaturation. This abstract outline three principal regimes of solution-grown crystal growth: defect-driven, two-dimensional, and adhesive growth. At low supersaturation, growth is facilitated at surface defects, such as screw dislocations, where energy barriers to attachment are minimized. This results in the formation of spiraling steps that propagate …

Tackling Water Hardness: Understanding the Issue for Sustainable Development
Abstract: Hard water poses a serious threat to human health and industrial operations. The pervasiveness of water hardness, characterized by elevated concentrations of calcium and magnesium ions, originates from seepage and runoff from soils, as well as polyvalent metallic ions from sedimentary rocks. These minerals, while essential in moderate amounts, can become problematic when consumed in excess. Epidemiological studies have established correlations between excessive consumption of calcium and magnesium and increased …

Abstract: Background: Thrombocytopenia, characterized by a reduction in platelet count, is commonly observed in clinical settings. Its etiology can be broadly classified into hyper-destructive thrombocytopenia, where platelets are destroyed at an accelerated rate, and hypo-productive thrombocytopenia, where platelet production is impaired. Differentiating between these two causes is essential for effective management. The Immature Platelet Fraction (IPF) has emerged as a promising non-invasive diagnostic tool to distinguish these causes. Objectives: The primary …
