Molecular Surveillance of Spring Viraemia of Carp Virus (SVCV) and Koi Herpesvirus (KHV) Across Major Aquaculture Zones of Telangana, India
Abstract: Viral diseases represent a persistent threat to cyprinid aquaculture; however, region-specific surveillance data from tropical production systems remain limited. To address this gap, a comprehensive statewide active surveillance programme was undertaken across Telangana, India, from 2019 to 2022 to investigate the occurrence of two priority transboundary pathogens, Spring Viraemia of Carp Virus (SVCV) and Koi Herpesvirus (KHV). A total of 414 fish specimens were systematically collected from five surveillance sectors …

A Study on accelerating threat of Emerging Infectious Diseases (EIDs) and imperative for a proactive, interdisciplinary Global Health Security Framework
Abstract: Emerging Infectious Diseases (EIDs) represent one of the most critical and persistent threats to global health security in the 21st century. Driven primarily by the synergy of unprecedented human encroachment into wild habitats, climate change-induced ecological disruption, accelerated international travel, and antimicrobial resistance, the frequency and severity of zoonotic spillover events are rapidly increasing. Traditional, reactive public health measures—focused on containment after an emergence—have repeatedly proven insufficient, leading to catastrophic …

Monkeypox Virus (MPXV): Epidemiology, Pathogenesis, and Control Strategies: Exploring the Recent Resurgence of Monkeypox, Its Transmission Dynamics, Clinical Manifestations, and Public Health Responses
Abstract: Monkeypox virus (MPXV) has re-emerged as a significant public health concern, with increasing cases reported worldwide. This zoonotic virus, primarily endemic to Central and West Africa, has demonstrated the potential for human-to-human transmission, leading to outbreaks in non-endemic regions. Unlike smallpox, which was eradicated through mass vaccination, monkeypox continues to persist due to the lack of widespread immunity and effective antiviral treatments. The resurgence of MPXV in recent years, particularly …

Unraveling Metagenomics: A Comprehensive Diagnostic Approach for COVID-19
Abstract: The COVID-19 pandemic has brought attention to the need for rapid, accurate, and scalable diagnostic techniques. Metagenomics, a powerful technique that enables the comprehensive analysis of genetic material from complex microbial communities, has emerged as a promising diagnostic approach for COVID-19. This article elucidates the principles of metagenomic sequencing, highlighting its ability to detect viral RNA directly from clinical samples without prior knowledge of the pathogen. Furthermore, we discuss the …
