In vitro/In vivo Study of Anti-inflammatory Effect of Cyperus rotundus on Diabetic Complications
Abstract: The reactive oxygen species (ROS) develop oxidative stress that contributes to the cause of human diseases. Radicals which enhance inflammation are nitric oxide, hydroxyl radical, hydrogen peroxide, and superoxide. Anion mediate and amplify the inflammation process, mediate vascular permeability and platelet aggregation leading to diabetic complications due to disruption of steady state of pro-oxidants and antioxidants. Cyperus rotundus plant extract was subjected to foraging radical activity with hemolysate sample to …

Evaluation of Antioxidant Activity of Coumarin Isolated from Eupatorium triplinerve
Abstract: Eupatorium triplinerve (Asteraceae) is a slender herb with narrow lanceolate leaves. Extract of the plant is used as antiseptic, and in the treatment of various ulcers and haemorrhages. Ayapana is a rich source of naturally occurring coumarin chemicals. Coumarins are chemical compounds found in many plants and which usually have a sweet scent—much like newly-mown hay. Coumarin has clinical value as the precursor for several anticoagulant drugs; most notably, one …

Role of Nitric Oxide Synthase in Platelets of Breast Carcinoma
Abstract: Breast cancer is the leading problem of the world. Free radicals have unpaired electron which can be neutralised by human body for maintaining health, these free radicals are toxic, highly unstable and very reactive. Antioxidants and free radical scavengers protect cells from toxic effects in order to maintain redox state of the cell. Nitric oxide is one of the important free radicals synthesized from nitric oxide synthase. It has been …

Nitric Oxide Synthase (NOS) in Breast Carcinoma
Abstract: Breast cancer is the most alarming problem of the current time. Nitric oxide, a free radical gas is synthesized by isoenzymes called nitric oxide synthase. Nitric oxide synthase consists of three isoforms; Nitric oxide produced is cytotoxic which is known to inhibit the DNA synthesis causing its damage. Keeping this in mind, nitric oxide synthase was determined in breast cancer and normal breast tissue. For this tissue from 60 breast …

Preliminary Phytochemical Screening, Antioxidant and antibacterial activity of Helicteres isora leaf extracts.
Abstract: Objective: To evaluate phytochemical screening, Anti-oxidant and anti-bacterial activity of Helicteres isora leaf extracts. Methods: Petroleum ether, chloroform, acetone, ethanol and hydroalcoholic extracts of leaves were used for the phytochemical screening. Anti-oxidant activity was measured using the 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and nitric oxide (No) radical scavenging tests; antibacterial activity was assessed using disc diffusion techniques. Results: The percentage yields for the petroleum ether, chloroform, acetone, ethanol and the hydroalcoholic extract were …

Therapeutic Prospects and Comparative Bioactive Evaluation of Fenugreek Seed Extracts
Abstract: A medicinal plant with substantial therapeutic potential, fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum L.) is rich in bioactive phytoconstituents. The phytochemical makeup and antioxidant properties of aqueous and methanolic fenugreek seed extracts were compared in this study. Phenolics, flavonoids, terpenoids, alkaloids, tannins, and saponins were found in both extracts, with the methanolic fraction showing greater intensity, according to preliminary phytochemical screening. The methanolic extract has higher levels of phenolic, flavonoid, and terpenoid content, …

Nitric Oxide—An Important Biomolecule in Breast Carcinoma
Abstract: Breast cancer represents significant problem of the world. Reactive nitrogen species of which nitric oxide (NO) is important constituent is a free radical gas which is synthesized by nitric oxide synthase (NOS).NO inhibits DNA synthesis and can damage DNA directly by deamination. In this study, NO level was studied in normal, pre- and postoperative cases of breast carcinoma. For this blood samples from 60 breast carcinoma cases were taken along …

Identification and Quantification of Anti-inflammatory Compound in Michelia champaca
Abstract: Ferulic acid is a ubiquitous phenolic acid present in the plants. This phenolic acid is of low toxicity and can easily be absorbed and metabolized in the human body. Ferulic acid has many physiological functions such as anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antimicrobial, anti-thrombotic and anti-cancerous activities. In the present study, Ferulic acid was isolated from Michelia champaca extract and quantified through High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) analysis. Ferulic acid is effective in …

Effects of Smoking on Respiratory System
Abstract: Smoking is whispered to exacerbate respiratory diseases by harming respiratory defense mechanisms. Specifically, smoking damages mucociliary function, which impairs clearance of inhaled substances even in smokers who have no respiratory symptoms promotes bacterial adherence to airway epithelial cells. The devastating health impact of cigarette smoking is well known, Cigarette and its components produce structural changes in the respiratory tract include peri-bronchiolar inflammation and fibrosis, augmented mucosal permeability, destruction of the …

Role of Nitric Oxide in Platelets of Breast Carcinoma
Abstract: Breast cancer is a disease of multifactorial origin; it is seen frequently in women of older age, having family history, affluent society, late age of marriage and first childbirth, early menarche, late menopause, and nulliparity. Oxidative stress results when balance between reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and antioxidant defence is lost which result in mutations, sister chromatid exchanges, cytotoxicity, carcinogenesis etc. Clinical, experimental and epidemiological studies suggest that free radicals …
