Explaining the Cost Performance and Maturity of Transportation Infrastructure in the Developed and Developing World: One Size Fits All?
Abstract: AbstractScholarly text analysing the financial performance of highway projects are evident in the literature, most of which have opined that highway agencies record higher levels of cost overruns compared to other clients of construction and building works. Similar assertions are made about the relatively higher levels of cost overruns recorded on highway projects executed in the developing world. A scant number of seminal works have emerged in the literature, offering …

A Survey on Hydrogen Storage System using Composite Material and its Alloys
Abstract: The transition to a carbon-neutral energy landscape hinges on the ability to store hydrogen safely, densely, and reversibly. While high-pressure tanks and cryogenic vessels dominate today’s infrastructure, solid-state storage in metallic alloys offers a compelling alternative by combining high gravimetric capacity with intrinsic safety to form a composite material. This work presents a systematic investigation of a family of reversible hydrogen-absorbing composite material alloys—principally Mg-based intermetallics (Mg₂Ni, MgFeMn) and TiV-based …

Towards a Geo-Classification of the Niger Delta for Highway Investment Costing Applications
Abstract: The study carries out a quasi-experimentation, as a basis of devising a spatial quantitative concept, delineating distinct geologic settings which would have differing cost implications for highway infrastructure development in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria. Three broad conceptual geomorphic boundaries, for the categorisation of Niger Delta soils in engineering geologic costing application, were discerned within this conceptual lens. The study further statistically explores the synthesised geo-zonation for differences in …

Time Series Sales Forecasting Using ARIMA Model
Abstract: Sales forecasting is a critical application in various industries and presents one of the most challenging problems worldwide. One method of prediction involves identifying patterns in historical data, where the outcome is known in advance and can be validated using more recent data. If a pattern consistently leads to the same outcome, it can be considered a genuine relationship. This method is highly flexible and can be utilized with diverse …
