Abstract: In the present study, the Asian green mussel, Perna viridis, was exposed to 50, 75, 113, 160 and 253 µg/L Hg concentrations under chronic toxicity for the assessment of biochemical biomarkers. Higher levels of glutathione S-transferase (GST), reduced glutathione (GSH), lipid peroxidation (LPO) and lower levels of protein, catalase (CAT) and acetylcholinesterase (AchE) were found. The values were found to be significant at P < 0.01. This study suggests that …

Parametric Analysis on Pulsating Heat Pipes
Abstract: Day-by-day the size of the electronic components is being drastically decreased, but at the same time the computing capacities are improved manifold. This presents a new challenge in the thermal management of these components. Pulsating Heat Pipes (PHP) can transport warmth for considerable distances leading to placement of condenser away from compact cabinets. From the literature, it is observed that Acetone, Ethanol and Distilled water are the most widely used …

Asymmetric Membrane Capsules for Delivery of Poorly Water Soluble Drugs
Abstract: After the successful implementation of asymmetric membrane in osmotic tablet preparation, it also diversified towards capsular system. The asymmetric membrane capsule is a controlled drug-delivery device widely used in controlled osmotic drug delivery. The phase-inversion technique is utilized to nurture such units. It has a relatively thin dense region supported on a thicker porous region, hence called asymmetric. In contrast to gelatin capsules, however, the walls of asymmetric membrane capsules …

Synthesis, Characterization and Antibacterial Activity of Chalcone Derivatives
Abstract: Chalcone derivatives were produced by the Claisen-Schmidt condensation of aromatic aldehydes with methyl ketones. Chalone derivatives are valuable species as they belong to keto-ethylenic components. Chalcone is a one-of-a-kind template that is linked to a variety of biological processes. 2-hydroxy-2,5- dichloro acetophenon (1) were synthesized by Fries migration and condensed with aromatic aldehyde to produce the new chalcone derivatives (2a-e). The new 1-(2-hydroxy-3,5-dichlorophenyl)-aryl-prop2-ene-1-ones (2a-e) (chalcones) were characterized using FT-IR and …
