Abstract

Day-by-day the size of the electronic components is being drastically decreased, but at the same time the computing capacities are improved manifold.  This presents a new challenge in the thermal management of these components. Pulsating Heat Pipes (PHP) can transport warmth for considerable distances leading to placement of condenser away from compact cabinets. From the literature, it is observed that Acetone, Ethanol and Distilled water are the most widely used working fluids in PHP applications. In the present work, some more fluids like Ethyl Acetate and Heptane are used and their suitability in the operation of PHP is tested. Their effect of these fluids on the operation of PHP is studied by comparing parameters like thermal resistance and heat transfer coefficient.
