Wax Deposition Modeling and Comparison with Field Data for Some Indian Oil Fields
Abstract: One of the major determinants for flow assurance of crude oil is its constitution and involves successful management of solid deposits. Major challenges in flow assurance are adequate selection of production equipment and pipelines. Control of wax deposition and its challenge can be met with better prediction through wax modeling. Precipitation of paraffin out of supersaturated crude oil mixture is responsible for wax deposits in pipelines. The authors have seen …

Experimental Studies on the Effects of Liquid Viscosity and Surface Wettability in PMMA Microfluidic Devices
Abstract: The polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) microfluidic devices are fabricated by the maskless lithography, hot embossing lithography and direct bonding technique. The effects of liquid viscosity, surface wettability and surface area to volume ratio on the surface-driven capillary flow are studied in the PMMA microfluidic devices using ethylene glycol, isopropyl alcohol (IPA), liquid mixture (aqueous IPA) and ethanol as working liquids. The diffusion coefficient is determined in each surface-driven capillary flow by comparing …

Fluid Flow Analysis and Flow Path Optimization of a Centrifugal Fuel Injector for a Turboshaft Aero Engine
Abstract: The present work of optimization is made for specific dimensions of a rotary fuel injector used in two of the high-performance defense helicopter’s gas turbine engines, presently. The need for doing this study is to meet the thermal design requirements of limiting the combustion chamber temperatures to an optimum designed value which heavily depends on finely divided homogeneous droplet sizes, the SMD (Sauter Mean Diameter) of the fuel that is …

Studies on Thick Aerofoils at Subsonic Speeds for a Civil Transport Wing
Abstract: Airfoils are the most important elements of an aircraft wing, having a chord length a camber and a thickness distribution. Traditionally, airfoils were being developed by empirical methods taking considerable support from wind tunnel testing. The ratio of lift to drag indicates the efficiency of an aerofoil. The purpose of this study is to adequately acquaint, as a first step, with a validated vertex lattice method code, the X-foil for …

Parametric Analysis on Pulsating Heat Pipes
Abstract: Day-by-day the size of the electronic components is being drastically decreased, but at the same time the computing capacities are improved manifold. This presents a new challenge in the thermal management of these components. Pulsating Heat Pipes (PHP) can transport warmth for considerable distances leading to placement of condenser away from compact cabinets. From the literature, it is observed that Acetone, Ethanol and Distilled water are the most widely used …
