Impact of Spinal Cord Injury on Body Composition and Weight
Abstract: Weight gain is a common consequence of spinal cord injury (SCI), often resulting from decreased physical activity, metabolic alterations, and changes in body composition. This study aimed to assess post-injury weight changes among individuals with SCI. Data was obtained using a multistage random sampling method, utilizing a patient questionnaire administered to 28 individuals diagnosed with SCI. Participants’ baseline weights were compared with their recorded weights at follow-up. The mean initial …

Spindle Cell Neoplasm of Left Supra Scapular Region: Rare Case
Abstract: One challenging feature of head and neck pathology is that a dizzying array of spindle cell lesions occurs here ranging all the way from reactive to malignant and very aggressive. Most SPN are overtly malignant, and the differential diagnosis then includes a number of different malignant spindle cell neoplasm. However, there are several benign or even non-neoplastic lesions that can sometimes be difficult to discern from SPN. The pathologic and …

Spin Coated Polyvinylidene Difluoride / Ionic Liquid Nanocomposite Thin Films with Enhanced Dielectric and Piezoelectric Properties
Abstract: This study introduces a novel approach to enhance the piezoelectric and dielectric properties of polyvinylidene difluoride (PVDF) by incorporating 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate ([BMIM][BF₄]) ionic liquid via a spin-coating method— a processing route that has been rarely reported for PVDF/ionic liquid composites. Structural and morphological analyses using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) confirm the successful integration of [BMIM][BF₄] into the PVDF matrix. Abstract: This review explores the Hall and Nernst-Ettingshausen effects in various magnetic systems, including diluted magnetic semiconductors (DMS), topological insulators, superconductors, and novel composite materials. In DMS, the interplay of ferromagnetism and magnetic impurities introduces unique transport behaviors, particularly influencing the anomalous Hall effect (AHE) and thermomagnetic phenomena. We also examine the Nernst-Ettingshausen effect (NE) in topological insulators and superconductors, revealing the influence of band topology and vortex-like excitations. Special attention …
