Integration of Photo-catalysis of Ultraviolet Rays for Chlorination Process of Methane Conversion into Mono-, Di-, Tri- and Tetra-Chloromethane
Abstract: Alkanes the most basic of all organic compounds undergo very few reactions due to its stability. One of the reactions is halogenation, or the substitution of single hydrogen on the alkane for a single halogen to form a haloalkanes. Example of this halogenation of alkanes is the chlorination processes. It is well established that methane-chlorine mixture undergoes substitution reaction at the temp of about 400ºC and presence of light without …

Photoluminescent Reduced Graphene Oxide (rGO)–ZnO Nanocomposites Prepared Through one-pot Solvothermal Route
Abstract: In the present article, we report solvothermal synthesis of reduced graphene oxide (rGO)–ZnO nanocomposites through in situ exfoliations of graphite oxide with two different zinc-containing precursors viz. Zinc acetate dihydrate and zinc(II) acetylacetonate in water-diethylene glycol medium with hexamethylenetetramine as a reducing agent. The obtained rGO–ZnO nanocomposites were characterized by X-ray diffraction, and the ZnO lattice parameters were calculated. Raman spectroscopy indicated the presence of characteristic bands of graphene and …

Thermal Conductivity of CNT-Deposited Carbon Fiber Epoxy Matrix Composites
Abstract: AbstractWe have recently developed nanostructured coupling agents designed to couple micron scale reinforcements to the composite matrix. Scanning electron microscopy and Raman spectroscopy show evidence of carbon nanotubes deposited onto the carbon fibers. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy provides evidence of a covalent link formed between the carbon nanotubes and the sizing on the carbon fibers. Laser flash analysis shows significant enhancement in thermal conductivity of composites fabricated with these modified fibers. …

Comparative Study of Structural and Optical Properties of Bismuth Ferrite Nanoparticles for Photovoltaic Applications Synthesized via Different Sol-Gel Methods
Abstract: Pure multiferroic bismuth ferrite (BiFeO3) nanoparticles were successfully synthesized using an energy-efficient, low-temperature sol-gel method, comparing two distinct approaches: auto-combustion and non-auto-combustion. To ensure phase stability, the precursor solution's pH was strictly maintained between 1 and 2 using ammonia solution (NH4OH), while ethylene glycol (C2H6O2) was employed as a chelating agent for the Fe3+ and Bi3+ cations. All samples underwent a final annealing process at 500 °C to promote crystallization. …

Abstract: The eye consists of three main segments: the cornea, lens, and retina. The primary function of the anterior ocular tissue, the cornea and lens, is to transmit and focus light onto the retina without distortion. They also filter UV light (under 400 nm), preventing it from reaching the retina. While light reaching the retina is mostly used for vision, it can also have various effects on the eye's constituents, both …
