A Case Report of Advanced Periampullary Carcinoma: Palliative Chemotherapy Following Whipple’s Surgery
Abstract: This case report delves into the complex management of a 60-year-old female patient diagnosed with Stage 4 periampullary carcinoma, encompassing the pancreatic head. Presenting with difficulty in eating, diagnostic investigations, including ERCP, confirmed the diagnosis, leading to Whipple's surgery. Postoperatively, liver metastasis was identified, prompting palliative intervention through stenting and the initiation of a GEMOX chemotherapy regimen. The patient responded favorably to the initial chemotherapy cycle, leading to a planned …

An Immunohistochemical Study to Assess the Role of Myofibroblasts in Diagnosing and Predicting the Outcome of Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma
Abstract: Background: Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) accounts for approximately 94% of all oral malignancies, hence establishing oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) as one of the top 10 most prevalent malignant tumors. Cells with several functions, such as macrophages and myofibroblasts, play a vital role in the biological behavior of tumors. This study aimed to assess and evaluate the prevalence of myofibroblasts (MF) and macrophages in SCCs occurring in the oral region. …

Network Pharmacology and Molecular Docking Approach to Reveal the Underlying Mechanisms of Isorhamnetin in the Treatment of Lymphangitis Carcinomatosis
Abstract: Objective: Lymphangitic carcinomatosis (LC) is a tumor that spreads through lung lymphatics and is most commonly seen secondary to adenocarcinoma. In the majority of cases, LC is a result of tumor cells spreading through the lymphatic system. However, approximately 20% of LC cases can be attributed to lymphangitis caused by tumors obstructing lymphatic drainage. This blockage commonly occurs near the lung hilum, where a centrally located mass can cause inflammation …

Mandible reconstruction following resection of gingival squamous cell carcinoma with peroneal artery perforator based fibular osteocutaneous free flap
Abstract: Reconstructing soft tissue defect resulting from resection of malignant tumor in face is crucial in esthetic and functional point of view. To address this condition, various surgical flaps are used, including the free vascularized osteocutaneous flap. In this case, we used a free fibular osteocutaneous flap to reconstruct both the bone (osseous) and soft tissue (mucosal) defects. These defects were caused by the removal (resection) of a lesion in a …

Comprehensive Review of Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma: Pathogenesis, Diagnosis, and Emerging Therapeutic Approaches
Abstract: Adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC)is an infrequent neoplasm, highly malignant, that develops mainly in the salivary glands with the potential to exist in any secretory glandular sites, including the lacrimal glands, breast, and respiratory tract. ACC usually has a benign initial course, but conversely, it is notoriously aggressive in behavior with high incidence of perineural invasion, local recurrence, and distant metastasis, mostly to the lungs. The tumor’s molecular features are characterized …

Examining Connective Tissue Changes Across Various Grades of Oral Epithelial Dysplasia and Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma: A Histochemical Polymeric Investigation
Abstract: Oral epithelial dysplasia (OED) and oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) represent a spectrum of potentially malignant disorders posing significant challenges in diagnosis and management. The tumor microenvironment, particularly alterations in the connective tissue, plays a crucial role in the progression of these lesions. This histochemical investigation comprised with embedded polymers aimed to examine connective tissue changes across various grades of oral epithelial dysplasia (OED) and oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). …

Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer: Types, Pathogenesis, Diagnosis, and Novel Therapeutic Strategies
Abstract: Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is the most prevalent type of lung cancer, accounting for over 85% of all cases globally. It remains one of the primary causes of cancer-related death due to its rapid progression, few early symptoms, and late detection. The three main forms of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) are adenocarcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and giant cell carcinoma; each has a unique histology, prognosis, and response to …

Hidradenocarcinoma: A Rare Skin Disease
Abstract: Hidradenocarcinoma (HAC) also known as ‘‘sweat gland tumor” is an aggressive, uncommon, highly malignant, adnexal tumor derived from the intradermal duct of eccrine sweat glands. It is said to be aggressive as it has a high risk of local recurrence (50%–75%) and a high potential to metastasize to nearby lymph nodes or to other distant sites. Hidradenocarcinoma has other recognized variants which are known by different names such as Malignant …

Cervical Cancer: Understanding Its Causes, Risk Factors, and Preventive Measures
Abstract: Cervical cancer is a form of cancer that begins in the cervix, the lower portion of the uterus, due to abnormal cell growth that can spread or invade other areas of the body. In its early stages, cervical cancer usually shows no obvious symptoms, which is why regular screenings are essential for detecting it early. As the cancer advances, symptoms such as pelvic pain, unusual vaginal bleeding, and pain during …

A Review on Unmasking Merkel Cell Polyomavirus: From Discovery to Cancer Driver
Abstract: Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCPyV) is a small, non-enveloped, circular double-stranded DNA virus belonging to the Polyomaviridae family, first characterized in 2008. Epidemiological data suggest widespread exposure, with seroprevalence rates approaching 80% in adults. While primary infection is typically asymptomatic, rare integration events in Merkel cells can initiate oncogenesis, yielding Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC), a neuroendocrine skin cancer with a five-year survival rate under 60%. This review integrates findings from six …

Progress in Renal Tumor Surgery: The Role of 3D Surgical Planning in Partial Nephrectomy
Abstract: Renal cell carcinoma is the most common form of kidney cancer, representing 2–3% of global cases, with the highest incidence in Western Europe. For small renal tumors, partial nephrectomy is the preferred treatment, where the tumor is surgically removed. This procedure does not affect oncological outcomes, allowing part of the kidney to remain functional. During tumor removal, the surgeon minimizes excessive bleeding and improves visibility by cutting off the arterial …
