Role of Prey Refuge in Predator-Prey Dynamics with Nonlinear Functional Responses: A Mathematical Approach
Abstract: The Beddington-DeAnglis and Holling type II functional response with prey refuge are used in this study to propose and assess a prey-predator system. This study looks at the ecological effects of prey refuge and how it affects predator-prey relationships, highlighting how functional responses influence population dynamics. The dynamical behavior of the model has been shown, which consist the existence of positivity, boundedness, local stability, and global stability. In addition, stability …

The Predatory Bacteria, Bdellovibrio and Like Organisms (BALOs): An Emerging Savior for Human Welfare
Abstract: Bdellovibrio and like organisms (BALOs) are capable of killing other Gram negative pathogenic and non-pathogenic bacteria dwelling in a diverse environmental niches such as soil, freshwater and ocean. The predatory nature of BALOs can be a viable alternative to conventional use of antibiotics to treat ocular, periodontal, respiratory and fish pathogen infections since the incessant use develops resistance against them. Anxiety Due to Predator Odour as a Novel Tool for Evaluating Anxiolytic Drugs
Abstract: Development of anxiolytic drugs is impaired due to the absence of a proper and reliable method. We have used the ethological aspects of animals such as intent to mate and food avoidance to research an anxiolytic drug called Aforte. Our findings have clearly shown that the ethological parameters are more reliable than the conventional pharmacological test such as elevated plus maze test, rota rod test, forced swim test. The ethological …

Mass Rearing Techniques of Green Lacewings Chrysoperla carnea Stephens – A Review
Abstract: Chrysoperla carnea is a cosmopolitan polyphagous predator feeding on soft bodies insects like aphids and other phytophagous arthropods. Commercially, it is available as individual stages: egg, larva, pupa, adult and mixed stages. The mass rearing techniques must be developed underlying the criteria of cost-effectiveness and biological efficiency. The mass-rearing of the predator can be done in following steps: rearing the adults of C. carnea, Rearing of Hosts and larval rearing. …

Isolation, Identification and Characterization of Bdellovibrio sp. from Soil and its Antibiotic Potential against Selected Bacterial Pathogens
Abstract: Bdellovibrio and Like Organisms (BALOs) are the world's smallest Gram-negative, highly motile delta-proteobacterial predators generally found in diverse environmental niches such as soil, seawater, sewage, bio films, freshwater, gastro intestinal tract of animals and in association with plant roots. These small bacteria attack gram negative bacterial strains attaching to the outer membrane and consuming the prey extracellularly (epibiotic predation) or penetrating their periplasm (periplasmic predation). Bdellovibrio exovorus MPR11 (Accession No. …

Migratory Behavior of Apis cerana
Abstract: AbstractApis cerana also known as Asiatic honeybee or Himalayan honeybee is small bee native to southern and southeastern Asia. Apis cerana is one of the bee species that can be domesticated and used in apiculture, mostly in wooden box with frames. In size, they are similar or smaller than Apis melifera and have more prominent abdominal stripes. The capacity of adapting in wide range of climatic conditions has made Apis …

Environmental Pollutants and Biodiversity Loss: Analyzing the Role of Persistent Organic Pollutants in Ecosystem Decline
Abstract: Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) significantly impact biodiversity, with various factors influencing their effects on species and ecosystems. Species in poor body condition, like carnivores and predators, are more vulnerable to POPs due to weakened immune systems and reduced detoxification abilities. Dietary habits also affect the accumulation of POPs, as chemicals biomagnify up the food chain. Carnivores accumulate higher concentrations, leading to reproductive failures, hormonal imbalances, and death, while herbivores face …

Abstract: The papaya mealybug (Paracoccus marginatus) is a serious problem that affects mulberries, citrus, and papaya among other agricultural and horticultural crops. Originating in Central America, it has spread around the world and caused extensive harm because of its capacity to consume plant sap, which results in reduced crop yields, fruit drop, and chlorosis. In addition, the insect releases honeydew, which encourages the development of sooty mold, further impeding photosynthesis and …

Myrmecophytes – A Wonder in Mutualistic World
Abstract: In nature, organisms have an inherent ability to interact with each other constructing the ultimate basis of simple to diversified relationships among themselves. Myrmecophytes emerge because of the complex association between plants and ants which coevolve over time. They develop specialized structures and mechanisms to interact with ants in a mutualistic manner. Ant’s dispersal of seeds via myrmecochory, extrafloral nectaries, food bodies, and domatia are among several tools that make …
