Distribution, Species Morphology, Phenotypic Variability and Phenology of Epilobium hirsutum L.: A Comparative Study
Abstract: AbstractThe species is distributed along an altitudinal range of 1500–2700m asl. Significant variability in phenotypic traits was observed within and across different populations. A considerable trend of decreasing phenotypic characteristics was observed with decrease in altitudinal gradient. The plants in transplanted site (KUBG) diverge in various traits and timing of phenophases from other three natural populations through Chadoora, Shopian and Shalimar. The plant height decreases with decrease in altitude and …

Preparation of Vitamin B12-Enriched Curds: A Novel Approach to Address Nutritional Deficiency in Vegetarian Populations
Abstract: Addressing the significant public health challenge of Vitamin B12 deficiency, particularly within India’s substantial vegetarian population (estimated at 35%), this study explored biofortification of the widely consumed dairy product curd (dahi) as a culturally acceptable solution, overcoming barriers of cost, access, and compliance associated with traditional supplements. Researchers isolated bacterial strains from Swiss cheese, presumptively identified as Propionibacterium shermanii based on phenotypic characteristics, and used them to ferment curd under …

Abstract: Studies were conducted to isolate marine actinomycetes active against oflaxcin resistant M. tuberculosis. Out of 25 actinomycetes isolates designated as ECRMP 4 showed potent antimycobacterial activity against all three tested Mycobacterial strains. Representative bioactive isolate was characterized using phenotypic property and identified as Micropolyspora sp. The zone of inhibition was 20 ± 0.1 mm (62% RIZD) against M. tuberculosis and 18 ± 0.6 mm (100% RIZD) against OFLR M. tuberculosis. …

A Rare Variant of Holoprosencephaly: Ethmocephaly with Inferior Proboscis and Amelia
Abstract: Ethmocephaly is a rare phenotypic variant of holoprosencephaly, characterized by the failure of embryonic prosencephalon to properly divide the orbits of the eye into two cavities with grossly incomplete morphogenesis of fore brain. The severity has a marked variability and ranges from hypotelorism to cyclopia with craniofacial dysmorphism, such as microcephaly with a single central incisor. Reports of this anomaly are few and because of the rarity even among Holoprosencephaly. …

Prevalence of Frailty and Its Association with Information and Communication Technologies Use among Older Adults
Abstract: Frailty phenotype (FP) refers to a clinical syndrome characterized by a lack of effective response to stressors due to a decline in physiological reserve. The presence of FP is associated with negative outcomes in elders, like disability. Information and communication technology (ICT) is defined as a unit of technology that an individual can use to produce, store, and communicate information, e.g., mobile phones (MP) and internet browsing. The aim of …

Bioinformatics-based Characterization of Stress Tolerance Spermidine Synthase from Zea mays
Abstract: The response to sensing environmental stress by plants is very important and can be short term by the synthesis of some protecting molecules against stress or long term by expressing phenotypic plasticity with alteration of developmental programme. The ability to respond to abiotic stress represents the main constraint on maize production. The spermidine synthase genes (Zmspds1 and Zmspds2) in Zea mays genome were identified by the PCR amplification and expression …

Biotechnological Prospective of a Group of Beneficial Extremophiles Isolated from Different Sources
Abstract: Extremophiles thrive in terrestrial hot springs, hydrothermal vents, glacial ices, saline lakes, solar saltern and acidic and alkaline niches; moreover a group of the extremophiles may grow in household hazardous waste, solvents containing cleaning and polishing chemicals, heavy metals contaminated sites, or in several other habitats such as aphotic, anoxic, athalassohaline and thalassohaline habitats that were previously considered inhospitable for life. Beside aforementioned extreme niches, extremophiles also dwell in poultry …

ADVANCEMENTS AND CHALLENGES OF MODERN BREEDING OVER CONVENTIONAL BREEDING
Abstract: Plant breeding dates back thousands of years, when people first deliberately bred plants based on visually pleasing characteristics. The domestication of wild plants aided this process, resulting in the evolution of numerous breeding strategies over time. Conventional breeding, which is distinguished by selective breeding based on superior performance, used procedures such as pure-line selections, mass selection, backcross breeding, recurrent selection, and hybridization. While effective, classical breeding procedures were time-consuming and …
