A Pilot Study on β-lactamase Producing Escherichia coli from Bovine Milk, West Bengal
Abstract: Drug resistant bacteria have become a significant global healthcare issue that requires close attention. With regards to antibiotic resistance, E.coli and its Enterobacteriaceae family are highly notorious for their ability to swiftly spread antibiotic resistance genes, thereby posing a major concern. In order to effectively address the spread of multi drug resistant bacteria, ongoing monitoring of the microflora in milk for the presence of drug resistant genes is essential. This …

Lysogenic Phage Cocktails with Embedded Fluorophores for Field Wound Diagnostics.
Abstract: Rapid and accurate detection of wound infections in field settings remains a critical challenge in emergency and military medicine. Conventional microbiological diagnostics are time- consuming and laboratory-dependent. Bacteriophages, particularly lysogenic phages, offer high specificity toward bacterial hosts and can be engineered as diagnostic tools. A translational framework was developed for lysogenic bacteriophage cocktails embedded with fluorophore reporters for rapid, point-of-care wound diagnostics. Mechanisms of phage infection, lysogenic integration, and fluorophore …

Study of the Antibacterial Activity of Artemisia Absinthium against E. coli bacteria Isolated from Urinary Tract Infections
Abstract: Twenty clinically diagnosed samples were collected using transport medium swabs from the operating room at Al-Amal Specialized Laboratory in Iraq between November 2025 and February 10, 2026. Antibiotic susceptibility testing was performed on the 20 Escherichia coli samples. The results showed a clear difference in the bacterial isolates' response to the tested antibiotics. Imipenem demonstrated the highest inhibition rate, reaching 24.55% (100%), compared to the other antibiotics used in the …

Lower Genital Tract Infections in Pregnant Women: Epidemiology and Risk Factors Associated in Dakar, Senegal
Abstract: Vaginal infections are responsible for many problems in women of childbearing age and significantly influence pregnancy outcomes. This study sought to ascertain the prevalence of lower genital tract infections and the risk factors associated with them in pregnant women under observation at the Nabil Choucair Health Centre in Dakar, Senegal. This nine-month cross-sectional study, which involved women between 34 and 38 weeks gestation (WG), was carried out from July 2020 …

Biological Synthesis of Silver Nanoparticles Using Hibiscus Sabdariffa Leaf Extract and It’s Antibacterial Sensitivity Assay
Abstract: In this study, AgNO3 was effectively used to synthesize silver nanoparticles. Hibiscus sabdariffa leaf extract was used to promptly and easily synthesize silver nanoparticles. An UV-Visible spectrophotometer showed absorbance peak in range of 300-600 nm. The procedure was found to be easy to follow, quick, least step and safe for the environment. It is non-toxic, and a viable substitute for traditional physical or chemical procedures. At room temperature, silver ions …

Chemical Composition and Antimicrobial Efficacy of Ferula persica Extracts: A Phytochemical and Bioactivity Assessment in Iraq
Abstract: The research presented in the tables focuses on analyzing the chemical content of extracts from the Ferula persica plant, a wild species in Iraq with significant medical and therapeutic importance dating back to ancient times. This study involved testing some chemical and physical properties of the alcoholic extract of the plant's aerial parts and evaluating its antimicrobial activity, specifically against Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) and Escherichia coli (E. coli). The …

Emerging Trends in Horticultural Crops: Role of Date Fruit in Promoting Urinary and Kidney Health
Abstract: Dates, or Phoenix dactylifera L., have been widely consumed in different cultures, both as a food source and for their health benefits. Whereas dates have been reported extensively to improve cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, and metabolic function, their role in urinary tract and renal health has received lesser attention in mainstream nutritional sciences. This review systematically evaluates and synthesizes the current literature on the potential effects of dates to promote urinary health …

Mannan-Rich Fractions in Poultry Nutrition: A Sustainable and Defensive Strategy against Antimicrobial Resistance
Abstract: Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) has evolved to be a significant global threat, menacing worldwide health and food security. Its proliferation in poultry farming has spurred the search for sustainable, non-antibiotic alternatives. One promising alternative is Mannan-Rich Fractions (MRFs), which is derived from Saccharomyces cerevisiae. These bioactive compounds not only support poultry health but also aid in suppressing pathogenic bacteria without contributing to resistance. This review brings together current studies highlighting how …
