Waste Minimization in Cumene Production Process
Abstract: This study deals with waste minimization in cumene production process using WAR (Waste Reduction Algorithm). Initially cumene production process is designed using ASPEN PLUS V8.8 chemical process simulator. Using WAR algorithm PEI’s (Potential Environmental Impacts) are calculated. Based on the PEI values process modifications are suggested to minimize the PEI’s. The modified process is eco-friendly by reducing the waste by 29.9%.

Diaper Dissolving Machine
Abstract: In landfills, there are approximately 3.5 million tonnes of disposable diapers, according to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Currently, used diapers are disposed of through burning, burying in the ground, or improper disposal on the ground, including illegal dumping by caregivers. These careless disposal practices pose the risk of spreading infectious diseases and contribute to environmental degradation. To address this significant problem, we propose a suitable nappy waste management system. …

The Ames Test in Twenty-first Century
Abstract: Since the 19th century, industrial development has increased exposure to mutagens and possible carcinogens. In order to avoid these health risks, several techniques have been developed to recognize genotoxins. In the 1970s, Dr. Bruce Ames and colleagues, studying the histidine operon of Salmonella typhimurium, observed that histidine (−) auxotroph mutants were reverted to histidine (+) upon exposure to a mutagen. The researchers further observed that known carcinogens were mutagenic to …

Health Risk and Evaluation of Atmospheric Pollutants in Owerri Metropolis and Sub-Urban Areas of Imo State, Nigeria Using Chemometric Models
Abstract: Concern about health risk from atmospheric pollutants; Particulate Matter (PM10), Sulphur dioxide (SO2), Nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and Carbon Monoxide (CO) prompted atmospheric monitoring and inhalation health risk assessment for residents of Owerri Metropolis and its Sub-urban areas. Field measurements were carried out in 35 select locations within Imo State. Monitoring was carried out using Chemometric methods as Matrix Laboratory (MATLAB) and Artificial Neural Network (ANN). According to the experiment results, …

STABILIZATION OF HEAVY METAL SLUDGE TO PASS THE TCLP TEST USING CEMENT WITH A SINTER AS A ADDITIVE
Abstract: According to the U.S. Stabilisation is the best-proven technology now in use, according to the Environmental Protection Agency's definition in Title 40, Part 268 of the Code of Federal Regulations (40 CFR 268).This method prevents harmful contaminants from leaking into the environment by physically and chemically trapping them all in a matrix. The investigations used 15 different water-mixed combinations of cement, fly ash, sinter, and lime. The study also examined …

Heavy Metal Assessment of Rainwater from Owerri Metropolis and Suburbs of Imo State, Nigeria Using GIS, MATLAB and ANN Models.
Abstract: Three hundred and fifty (350) rainwater samples were collected from 35 select locations within Owerri Metropolis, Ehime Mbano and Mbaitoli LGAs and analyzed for Cd, Cu, Fe, Zn, and Pb using standard instrumental methods. The results were compared with the World Health Organization (WHO), National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS), Federal Environmental Protection Agency (FEPA) and National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) Standards for drinking water …

The implementation of the food quality protection act (FQPA) in increasing the safety standards for new pesticides used on foods
Abstract: This paper examines the Food Quality Protection Act (FQPA) and its impact on enhancing safety standards for pesticides used on food in the United States. Initially, the study explores the Delaney Clause—a strict standard prohibiting carcinogenic food additives—which FQPA replaced with a more flexible "reasonable certainty of no harm" criterion. This shift allows the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to assess pesticide risk with consideration of potential benefits, even if a …

Assessment of Air Quality Index using High Volume Sampler for Nasik City
Abstract: Seismic Information on air quality in urban areas represents an important objective to raise awareness and participation of citizens towards those measures aimed at containing and reducing vehicular traffic. For several years at the international level, evaluation procedures have been adopted by indices. One of the first synthetic indices, adopted by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (US-EPA), have established an exchange of information from networks and individual stations measuring …

Response to Comments on Uranium Content Anomalies in Groundwaters of Fazilka District of Punjab (India) for the Assessment of Excess Cancer Risk
Abstract: Excess cancer risk from the ingestion of natural Uranium from the drinking water has been calculated according to the standard method given by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA). There is as yet no final conclusion regarding absorbed dose delivered to population over extended time periods. Most of the authors in India and abroad have used the Model calculations based on Linear No Threshold (LNT) for evaluating excess cancer …
