Thermodynamic, Kinetic and Mechanistic Investigations of Ruthenium(III) Catalyzed Methylparaben Oxidation by Diperiodatocuprate(III) in Aqueous Alkaline Medium
Abstract: The kinetics of ruthenium(III) catalyzed degradative oxidation of methylparaben by the copper complex, diperiodatocuprate(III) in alkaline medium is studied at 25ºC and at a ionic strength of 8.0 × 10−2 mol dm−3. In the presence of catalyst ruthenium(III), the reaction between methylparaben and diperiodatocuprate(III) in aqueous alkaline medium exhibits 1:1 stoichiometry. The oxidation products were identified by UV-visible, GC-MS and IR spectroscopy. The reaction exhibited unit order in case of …

Microhardness of II-VI and III-V Semiconductors
Abstract: A correlation between microhardness and bond hardness of II-VI and III-V semiconductors is presented in this study. Bond hardness is calculated using valence electron number, covalent / ionic radius and co-ordination number of bonded atoms of the tetrahedral semiconductors. The covalent and ionic contributions to bond hardness are separately calculated to get resultant bond hardness. Results obtained using the correlation agrees well with the reported, experimental and theoretical values of …

Simple Gain Model of Group III-V Semiconductor-based Laser Diode
Abstract: In these days, a layer of low bandgap material is sandwiched between two high bandgap layers. Most commonly-used pair of materials is gallium arsenide (GaAs) with aluminium galliumarsenide (AlGaAs) and Indium Phosphide (InP) with Indium gallium arsenide phosphide(InGaAsP) laser. A heterostructure is the junctions between different bandgap materials. Here, two such junctions are present, hence it is called the name "double heterostructure laser" orDH laser. The kind of laser diode may be …

Characterization and Antimicrobial Investigations of Isomeric Pr(III) Juglonates
Abstract: Hydroxy napthoquinone derivatives constitute an interesting group of ligands which is recognized as ‘Juglones’. Isomeric Lawsone-Juglone and Phthiocol-Plumbagin are the most important members of the Juglone series and are biologically active, having natural origin. They form isomeric pairs of ligands resulting into isomeric pairs of metal chelates. The isomerism is occurring due to formation of either five or six membered rings in the metal chelates. In the present work Prasodymium …

Ru(III)-Catalyzed Oxidative Cleavage of Ritodrine Hydrochloride: A Kinetic and Mechanistic Study
Abstract: A systematic kinetic and mechanistic study of the oxidation of ritodrine hydrochloride (RTH) with chloramine-T (CAT) in both HClO4 and NaOH media has been carried out at 303 K. In acid medium, the reaction rate is very sluggish to be measured kinetically. Ruthenium (III) chloride ([Ru(III)]) was found to be an efficient catalyst. The reaction rate exhibits a first-order dependence on [CAT]0 in both media. It shows a fractional-order on …

Catalysis by Iridium (III) in the Oxidation of Hydrocarbons and Cyclic Alcohols by in situ Prepared Sodium Ferrate
Abstract: Potassium ferrate can be used as an oxidant only after separating it in the solid form for which tedious and multi-step process involving hazardous chemicals is required. Problems of separation of potassium ferrate in the solid form and its storage can be minimized if in situ prepared sodium ferrate is used as an oxidant which easily oxidizes hydrocarbons and cyclic alcohols from the synthetic point of view. Surprisingly, addition of …

Lipid Peroxidation in Postoperative Cases of Breast Carcinoma (Grade III)
Abstract: Breast cancer represents significant problem in the world. Oxidative modification of lipids is catalyzed by reactive oxygen species (ROS) which is known as lipid peroxidation (LPO); this changes the fluidity, permeability of membrane, cellular metabolic functions and causes derangement. Malondialdehyde (MDA) is a major end product and an index of LPO which crosslinks DNA, protein and nucleotides on the same and opposite strands. There are reports that LPO increased in …

Abstract: Mixed-ligand complexes of Co(II) and Cr(III) ions were synthesized from the reaction of metals chloride salts with α-amino acid (H2L1) as a primary ligand and 1,10-phenanthroline (L2) as secondary ligand. The ligand 2-(benzo[d]thiazol-2-ylamino)-2-(2-hydroxynaphthalen-1-yl) acetic acid (H2L1) has been synthesized from the condensation reaction of inobenzothiazol with 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde in the presence of HCN as three components–one pot reaction. H2L1 considered as a tridentate chelater of ONO-coordination binding type toward the metals, …
