The Interplay Between Hyperglycemia, Endothelial Dysfunction, and Cardiovascular Risk in the Context of COVID-19: Implications for Long-term Health
Abstract: The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the potential impact of hyperglycemia, especially its link to cardiovascular disease (CVD) and endothelial dysfunction. COVID-19 can cause systemic inflammation and endothelial damage, worsening complications related to hyperglycemia. Persistent inflammation and endothelial dysfunction are crucial elements in the progression of atherosclerosis and other cardiovascular diseases. The long-term health effects of COVID-19, known as “Long COVID” or post-acute sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 infection (PASC), have raised concerns …

Platelets A Tiny Cell Fragments
Abstract: Platelets are disc-shaped, anucleate cells that are approximately 2-3 μm in diameter. Their primary function is to control hemostasis, or blood clotting, but they also play important roles in angiogenesis (the formation of new blood vessels) and innate immunity (the body's first line of defence against infection). With a diameter of just 2-3 microns, platelets are tiny, disc-shaped cells that lack a nucleus. While their main responsibility is to ensure …

Understanding Programmed Cell Death
Abstract: Recent studies emphasize the critical role of various types of programmed cell death (PCD) such as apoptosis, autophagy, pyroptosis, and necroptosis, as well as their respective signaling pathways. These processes are essential for regulating cellular balance, responding to stress, and triggering immune defenses. Apoptosis, commonly known as "cellular suicide," is a tightly controlled mechanism that allows cells to die without inducing inflammation. This process is key for tissue development, immune …

Causes and Measures to Control Root Rot Fungus in Mulberry Ecosystem
Abstract: Root rot is a severe plant disease caused by various soil-borne fungi, including Phytophthora sp., Pythium sp., Rhizoctonia sp., Fusarium sp., and Armillaria sp. These pathogens attack plant roots, leading to decay, stunted growth, wilting, yellowing leaves, and plant death. Root rot typically develops in waterlogged soils with poor drainage, as these conditions create an environment favorable for fungal growth. Factors such as warm temperatures, compacted soil, improper watering practices, …

Flavonoids: An Answer to Chronic Diseases
Abstract: It has been shown that inflammation is closely associated with the onset or exacerbation of quite a few non-communicable human diseases. Several chronic diseases, such as cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular dysfunction and central nervous system damage are also developed following tissue injury produced by the high fragments of low-grade inflammation surrounding a compromised tissue or organ due to its acquired genomic changes. Current therapies for many of these diseases are associated …

Role of Genetics in Improving Fitness and Sports Performance
Abstract: Research indicates that variations in specific genes affects sports performance, comparing athletes with nonathletes. The genes that have been examined the most in relation to athletic performance are ACE and ACTN3. Strength and endurance have been associated with these genes, which also affect the type of fiber that makes up muscles. Sports performance factors primarily affected by genes are intrinsic motivation to exercise, power and endurance potential, training response to …

Role of Nail Filer Assisted Dermabrasion in Scald Burns
Abstract: Deep second-degree and full-thickness burns tend to heal slowly and often result in scarring. To encourage proper healing, deep dermal burns need to be treated early with tangential excision and skin grafting. While superficial burns, which affect only the epidermis and upper dermal layers, can often be managed with wound irrigation, debridement, and basic wound care, deeper burns that extend into the lower dermal layers and beyond typically require more …
