Transients of Short-Circuits and Fault Clearance in 6-Pulse Diode Rectifiers
Abstract: The paper addresses the short-circuit transients in 6-pulse diode rectifier bridges. It includes also an investigation into the transients resulting from the subsequent fault clearance. Unit-step functions are efficiently used for representing the diode characteristics and emulating the fault switching actions. The short-circuit fault and its subsequent clearance are simulated by means of a time-dependent shunt resistance at the rectifier terminals. The governing set of simultaneous algebraic and differential equations …

The Effect of using Grease on the Surface Roughness of Aluminum 1100 Sheet during the Single Point Incremental Forming Process
Abstract: Incremental forming is a sheet metal forming technique in which a uniform sheet is plastically deformed through the progressive action of a rounded tool. The movement of the tool is governed by a CNC machine. By this way the tool locally deforms the sheet through pure stretching deformation. In this research incremental forming experiments were carried out on Aluminum 1100 sheets to form a cone shape. Roughness was studied by …

Optimization of Power in SG-SOI Structure at 1550 nm for Nanophotonic Application
Abstract: AbstractOptical power of semiconductor grating silicon-on-insulator (SG-SOI) at 1550 nm is investigated in this paper. The power of SG-SOI structure is calculated using plane wave expansion (PWE) method. Simulation result reveals that optical power is more than 99.9% in all SG-SOI structure. Simulation result shows that suitable combinations of grating layers play vital role to obtain high optical power. Keywords: SG-SOI, PWE, power

Understanding of optical power in semiconductor based SOI Structure at the signal 1550 nm
Abstract: A silicon-on-insulator (SOI) structure consists of a single crystalline silicon layer separated from the bulk substrate by a thin insulator layer. The insulator in SOI wafers is usually always a thermal silicon oxide (SiO2) layer, with a silicon wafer as the substrate. The silicon sheet can be very thin (50 nm for fully depleted transistors) or tens of micrometres thick, depending on the application. Similarly, the thickness of buried oxide …

Influence of Polymer Additives on Physical Properties of Asphalt Concrete under Marshal, Flexure and Compressive Stresses
Abstract: AbstractThe polymer modified asphalt cement is used today to reduce early pavement distress and extend service life by enhancing adhesion, cohesion, and elasticity. This work studies the impact of polymer additives (SBS, LDPE, and rubber) to asphalt cement on the physical properties of asphalt concrete subjected to compression and flexure stresses, and Marshal volumetric properties. Asphalt concrete cylindrical specimens of 101.6 mm diameter and 127 mm height for compressive strength …

Preliminary In Silico Analysis of Choline Monooxygenase and Betaine Aldehyde Dehydrogenase from Suaeda monoica Forssk. and its Expression in E. coli.
Abstract: AbstractIn a tropical country like India, the yield of crop plants is majorly affected by soil salinity and drought. One of the strategies to address this problem is by introducing genes responsible for salinity/drought tolerance in crop plants. Such genes could be identified and isolated from mangrove plants, as they are known to have evolved certain physiological mechanisms to augment saline environments. One such mechanism is the accumulation of Glycine …

Magnitude and Risk Factors of Ante-partum Hemorrhage in Lemlem Karl Hospital, Tigray, Northern Ethiopia
Abstract: Antepartum Hemorrhage (APH) is a grave obstetrical emergency. APH continues to be a major cause of maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality even in modern obstetrics. It is one of the most frequent emergencies. Vaginal bleeding in the third trimester complicates 2–5% of all pregnancies. It is considered an obstetric emergency because hemorrhage remains the most frequent cause of maternal and fetal deaths. It is a critical for the well-being …

Knowledge, Attitude & Practices of Hepatitis B Infection and Serum Antibody Analysis among Hepatitis B Vaccinated Healthcare Workers in Tertiary Care Hospital in North India
Abstract: Introduction: Health care workers are particularly at high risk of acquiring Hepatitis B virus (HBV) and other infections through needle stick injuries (NSI). HBV transmission can be contained through vaccination among health care workers (HCWs). However, 10-15% individuals have poor response. This study was therefore done to assess knowledge, attitude and practices (KAP) and to evaluate the anti-HBs antibody titres in HBV vaccinated HCWs in tertiary care hospital. Material and …
