Exploring Biomedical Innovations in the Formulation and Assessment of Medicated Hard Candy Lozenges Containing Metoclopramide Hydrochloride
Abstract: The objective of this study was to formulate and evaluate metoclopramide hydrochloride medicated lozenges for antiemetic action through buccal absorption by incorporating a polymer. All formulations were developed and assessed for in-vitro drug release, physical appearance, weight variation, thickness, hardness, moisture content, mouth-dissolving time, and drug content. The prepared lozenges exhibited uniformity in weight and thickness. The hardness of all formulations ranged between 7.3–15.50 kg/cm², falling within standard limits. The …

Effect of Bismuth doping on Thiourea crystals : A NLO Material
Abstract: Single crystals of pure and thiourea-substituted bismuth were successfully grown using the slow evaporation solution growth technique at ambient temperature. The impact of thiourea doping on the crystal properties was thoroughly investigated. Solubility tests for the grown samples were conducted at various temperatures, providing crucial data on the dissolution characteristics. Structural characterization of these crystals was performed using single crystal X-ray diffraction (XRD), confirming their crystalline nature. Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy …

Development of Sodium Alginate Beads of Telmisartan Using Emulsion Gelation Method: Formulation and In-Vitro Characterization
Abstract: Introduction: The antihypertensive medication Telmisartan (TEL) is a member of BCS class II, which is distinguished by limited oral rate and extent and water solubility. By localizing the medication release in the stomach, gastro-retentive floating bead devices may be able to address the issues related to partial absorption and the low solubility of TEL. The preparation of TEL floating alginate beads was the aim of this investigation. The current work …

Corrosion and Corrosion Protection of Unio in Carbonic Acid Medium
Abstract: Unio is a calciferous animal, and its outer surface is made of calcium carbonate. It usually happens in sources of sweet water. They create carbonic acid by absorbing carbon dioxide. It changes the pH of sweet water sources thus water becomes acidic. It develops corrosive environment for Unio. Carbonic acid interacts with Unio to form corrosion cells on the interface of Unio. This acid oxidizes calcium carbonate into calcium ions …

Review on Sustained Released Matrix Tablet
Abstract: Pharmaceuticals often use sustained release dose forms to prolong the therapeutic agent’s presence in the bloodstream and maintain a consistent plasma profile. The matrix governs the drug’s release rate. Hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose, a release retardant, is a key excipient in formulations due to its ability to promote sustained release. Techniques that include wet granulation, direct compression, or the dispersion of solid particles within a porous matrix, integrating polymers, like polymethyl …

Controlled Release of Anti-Inflammatory Drugs from Biopolymer Matrices
Abstract: Carefully releasing anti-inflammatory drugs from natural materials is a new way to make treatments work better and cut down on the side effects of current drug delivery methods. To slowly release drugs, this method uses safe, reusable materials. It's a good alternative to pills or shots. Anti-inflammatory drugs that are used to treat long-term conditions like gout and inflammatory bowel disease work better when they are made in a controlled …

Polymer-Based Film Coatings for Enhancing Drug Stability and Shelf-Life
Abstract: Pharmaceutical stability is a crucial factor in ensuring drug efficacy and safety throughout its shelf-life. Polymer-based film coatings have emerged as an effective strategy to enhance drug stability by protecting active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) from environmental stressors such as moisture, oxygen, temperature fluctuations, and light exposure. These coatings act as physical barriers that prevent degradation, improve mechanical integrity, and enable controlled drug release. Various types of polymers are employed for …

Advancements in Buccal Patch Drug Delivery Systems: A Comprehensive Review of Evaluation Parameters
Abstract: The most dependable delivery method is buccal patches because it offers many improvements over alternative methods. This delivery method circumvents the hepatic first pass metabolism to deliver the medication into the systemic circulation. Buccal patches are inserted between the cheek and gums, where they dissolve and absorb through the buccal cavity's mucosal membrane. Polymers can be used to control the drug's delivery, and intelligent polymeric systems are a good option for …
