Immunological Biomarkers and Epidemiological Evaluation of Lymphatic Filariasis Elimination Efforts in Osun State, Nigeria
Abstract: Lymphatic filariasis (LF) remains a neglected tropical disease affecting millions globally, despite extensive elimination efforts. While the interruption of transmission is a key goal, the long-term immunological effects on individuals with existing complications like elephantiasis remain poorly understood. This study assessed the current transmission status of LF and the haematological profiles of infected individuals across selected Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Osun State, Nigeria. A total of 7,388 individuals from …

Inhibition of Replication of Adenovirus by 6-diazo-5-oxo-L-norleucine (DON)
Abstract: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE The antibiotic known as 6-diazo-5-oxo-L-norleucine (DON) inhibits the growth of several types of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. DON has also been demonstrated to inhibit the replication of poliovirus, respiratory syncytial virus, mumps, and herpes simplex virus in cultured eukaryotic cells. DON is an analogue of glutamine and inhibits the synthesis of glycoproteins and purine nucleotides in cells that are treated with the …

From Prototype to Production: A Review of Industrial Applications for 3D Printing in Aerospace, Automotive, Biomedical, and Electronics
Abstract: Three-dimensional (3D) or Additive Manufacturing has made remarkable progress from rapid prototyping to large-scale production. Several industries like aerospace, automotive, biomedical, and electronics utilise AM technology for product personalisation, minimising waste material, reducing the cycle time of product design, and designing complex shapes that are difficult to manufacture using traditional techniques like subtractive manufacturing. This paper evaluates the evolution of 3D printing technology from prototyping to industrial production. In addition, …

Basal Cell Adenocarcinoma of Submandibular Gland: A Case Report
Abstract: Basal cell adenocarcinoma (BCAC) of the salivary gland is a rare neoplasm that commonly occurs in major salivary glands, most likely in parotid gland. BCAC was included in the 1991 World Health Organization (WHO) classification of salivary gland neoplasms. In 2005 WHO classification; BCAC has been added to the subtypes of salivary gland carcinoma and is classified as a low grade malignancy. Histologically, BCAC is divided on the basis of …

Population Genetics and Diversity of Human Adenovirus in Two Tertiary Hospitals in Southern Nigeria
Abstract: The study of dynamic changes in genetic heterogeneity can shed light on the evolution of viruses because it is known that the genetic variety of viral populations within their hosts affects disease progression, treatment outcome, medication resistance, cell tropism, and transmission risk. Our study's primary goal is to identify trends in the genetic makeup and variety of human adenoviruses using samples taken from children who attend two distinct tertiary hospitals …

Comprehensive Review of Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma: Pathogenesis, Diagnosis, and Emerging Therapeutic Approaches
Abstract: Adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC)is an infrequent neoplasm, highly malignant, that develops mainly in the salivary glands with the potential to exist in any secretory glandular sites, including the lacrimal glands, breast, and respiratory tract. ACC usually has a benign initial course, but conversely, it is notoriously aggressive in behavior with high incidence of perineural invasion, local recurrence, and distant metastasis, mostly to the lungs. The tumor’s molecular features are characterized …

Rectal Polyp may turn out to be Rectal Adenocarcinoma—Case Report Emphasize Histopathology as a Routine Measure
Abstract: AbstractAdenocarcinoma is a commonest type of colorectal cancer. For the primary care physicians, a review of the pathophysiology and clinical presentation are important in its diagnosis. In India the annual incidence rate of rectal cancer in men is 4.1 per 100000 populations. Colon cancer in women is 3.9 per 100000 populations. Causes of colorectal cancer include genetic and environmental factors or lifestyle-related factors. Some previous studies confirm colonoscopy as a …

Coriander Seed Extract Enhances the Yield of T2 Bacteriophage in E. coli by Stimulating Adenylate Cyclase
Abstract: Coriander has been shown to have antibacterial activity in vitro. Relatively low concentrations of coriander seed extract added to LB broth have no effect on the growth of Escherichia coli. The addition of coriander seed extract to E. coli cultures growing in LB broth at a concentration of 0.012% enhanced the yield of T2 bacteriophage up to 225% of the control. Varying the length of time the extract was present …
