Role of Inflammatory Markers and Lipid Abnormalities in Glycemic Dysregulation Among Type 2 Diabetics
Abstract: Background: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by systemic inflammation and associated with various complications in multiple organs. Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) specifically involves insulin resistance, hyperglycemia, and inflammatory responses. This study investigates the levels of various inflammatory markers and their correlation with glycaemic control in T2DM patients. Objective: To evaluate the levels of inflammatory markers (including NLR, PLR, SII, SIRI, CRP, IL-6, TNF-α, TGF-β, MCP-1, …

Role of Genetics in Improving Fitness and Sports Performance
Abstract: Research indicates that variations in specific genes affects sports performance, comparing athletes with nonathletes. The genes that have been examined the most in relation to athletic performance are ACE and ACTN3. Strength and endurance have been associated with these genes, which also affect the type of fiber that makes up muscles. Sports performance factors primarily affected by genes are intrinsic motivation to exercise, power and endurance potential, training response to …

Importance of inflammatory marker ratio and lipid profile ratio in Acute Ischemic Stroke
Abstract: Background: Acute Ischemic Stroke is a chronic inflammatory disease that is projected to be one of the leading causes of mortality affecting millions of people globally. It is essential to study the Platelet lymphocyte ratio (PLR), Neutrophil lymphocyte ratio (NLR) ratios and C reactive protein (CRP) in impacting the inflammatory status during stroke. It is also important that altered lipid metabolism could influence the inflammatory conditions associated with AIS. Hence …

Evidence-Based Ayurveda Approaches for the Rapid Management of Dyslipidemia
Abstract: Dyslipidemia is increasingly prevalent ain modern society, primarily resulting from imbalances in lifestyle and dietary habits. Elevated levels of triglycerides, however, are associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular diseases and metabolic disorders. Ayurveda, the traditional Indian system of medicine, offers holistic approaches to managing lipid imbalances through dietary regulation, herbal formulations. While it may not directly correspond to a specific disease entity in Ayurveda, it is typically associated with …

Evaluation of the anti diabetic effects of ethanolic root extract from polyalthania longifora in diabetic rats induced by streptozotin and nicotinamide with considaertion of toxocological aspects
Abstract: The root of Polialthia Longifolia was selected for the evaluation of antidiabetic potential in STZ-nicotinamide induced diabetic rat model. The root extract was extracted by hot percolation using ethanol as a solvent in soxhlet apparatus and the preliminary phytochemical screening was performed and it shows that the ethanolic root extract of Polialthia Longifolia contains alkaloids, glycosides, flavonoids and tannins. Safety profile is essential for the drugs obtained from the plant origin. …

Study of Lipid Profile and Its Correlation with Coronary Angiogram Finding in a Tertiary Care Hospital in an Urban Setting
Abstract: Coronary artery disease (CAD) is a major global health concern caused by the constriction or blockage of the coronary arteries, which can result in serious cardiovascular events. This study looks at the relationship between lipid profiles and the severity of CAD as measured by coronary angiography in patients in a tertiary care hospital. The study focuses on dyslipidemia as a major risk factor for CAD, emphasizing the importance of efficient …

An Insightful Study on SMEDDS Challenges and Potential Strategies
Abstract: Self-microemulsifying drug delivery systems (SMEDDS) have gained attention as an effective approach to enhance the bioavailability of poorly water-soluble drugs. They are innovative lipid-based formulations designed to enhance the solubility, bioavailability, and therapeutic efficacy of poorly water-soluble drugs. The development of SMEDDS involves systematic selection of components based on solubility and emulsification efficiency, followed by optimization of ratios using pseudo-ternary phase diagrams. The resulting formulations are evaluated for droplet size, …

Garcinia cambogia Use of Weight Loss and Hepatotoxicity: A Review
Abstract: A complex disorder of hunger control and energy metabolism driven by certain biological variables is obesity. This study aims to evaluate the applications of Garcinia cambogia products for appetite suppression and fat burning. This little fruit, which looks a lot like a pumpkin, is marketed and used most frequently these days as a weight-loss supplement. Research has demonstrated that the fruit rind's main organic acid component, (−)-hydroxycitric acid (HCA), and …

Exploring the Role of Small Dense LDL-C and Paraoxonase-I Activity in Lipid Profile Alterations in Postmenopausal Women: Evidence from a Population-Based Study in Punjab, India
Abstract: Background: After menopause, women face a higher risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) because hormonal changes impact how their bodies process fats. This study aimed to explore the relationship between small dense LDL cholesterol (sdLDL-C), lipid profile, PON1 levels, thyroid function, CBC parameters, and cardiovascular risk in postmenopausal women (45–60 years) in Punjab, India. sdLDL-C is more atherogenic than larger LDL particles, while PON1, linked to HDL, offers heart protection. Thyroid …

Preparation of Methyl Esters of Solid Acids from Litsea Consimilis
Abstract: This study focuses on the extraction and characterization of fatty acids from the seed oil of Litsea consimilis and their subsequent conversion into methyl esters. The oil demonstrated high iodine and Reichert-Meissl values, indicating a significant content of unsaturated and short-chain fatty acids. Glyceride analysis revealed that trilaurin constitutes over 90% of the triglycerides, confirmed through melting point analysis and hydrolysis yielding lauric acid as the sole component. The oil …

Association of Metabolic Syndrome with Cholelithiasis in Female Patients and Its Impact on Clinical Management and Surgical Outcome
Abstract: Background: Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is associated with obesity, insulin resistance, dyslipidemia, and hypertension, which may predispose to gallstone formation. This study aimed to evaluate the association between MetS and cholelithiasis in female patients and to assess its impact on clinical presentation, surgical difficulty, and postoperative outcomes. Methods: A prospective observational study was conducted on 88 female patients with ultrasonography-confirmed cholelithiasis. Patients were divided into two groups: MetS (n=44) and non-MetS …

A Comparative Study of Lipid Profile in Pre-Dialysis and Post-Dialysis End-Stage Renal Disease Patients
Abstract: Background: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) represents a major public health concern in India, with its prevalence increasing at an alarming rate. Individuals with CKD are at a substantially higher risk of developing cardiovascular disease (CVD), which remains the leading cause of mortality in this population. Dyslipidemia is particularly pronounced among patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD); however, limited data are available regarding the impact of hemodialysis on lipid profile alterations. …
