Effect of Span, Load Intensity, and Beam Geometry on Stress and Deflection Behavior of RCC Beams
Abstract: This study investigates the influence of variations in beam geometry, span, load intensity, and permissible stresses on the structural behavior of reinforced concrete beams. Using classical bending and shear stress formulations, the effects of a 20% increase in key parameters were analytically evaluated. Results indicate that a 20% increase in beam span leads to a proportional 20% increase in beam depth, whereas a 20% increase in beam width or permissible …

Evaluation of T-stress using FEM in an Unsymmetrical Cracks Emanating from a Hole Placed Centrally in a Thin Plate
Abstract: Studying the impact of higher order terms of the William’s series expansion on fracture mechanics problems has received more attention in recent years. Research has demonstrated that the constant term T-stress has a significant impact on the stress and strain fields around the crack tip. In response to mixed mode (I/II) loading, a number of fracture criteria had been developed to characterize failure in linear elastic bodies. When evaluating the …

Finite Element Modelling of Contact Stresses in Helical Gear Systems
Abstract: Helical gears are widely used in modern power‐transmission systems because of their high load‐carrying capacity, smooth meshing action, and increased overlapping of gear teeth. However, the design of helical gear pairs is constrained by contact stresses generated at the mating tooth surfaces, which can lead to surface fatigue (pitting), micro-cracking, and ultimately gear failure. Traditional analytical methods, such as those of the American Gear Manufacturers Association (AGMA) or International Organization …
