Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA) and Its Different Testing Methods: A Review
Abstract: Staphylococcus aureus, a gram-positive bacterium is a serious current health care concern. In the mid-1980s, S. aureus strains emerged that were resistant to the beta-lactamase-stable penicillin, these strains were termed methicillin resistant S. aureus (MRSA). Methicillin resistance in S. aureus is primarily mediated by the mecA gene, which codes for the modified penicillin-binding protein 2a. MRSA strain has become one of the well-known etiologic agents for a wide variety of …

Pathogens in Nosocomial Infections: Epidemiology, Resistance, and Control Measures
Abstract: Nosocomial infections, also known as healthcare-associated infections (HAIs), are a serious global health issue, leading to higher patient morbidity, prolonged hospital stays, and increased medical costs. Various pathogens—such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites—are responsible for these infections, especially in healthcare environments where they easily spread. They can be transmitted through direct contact with infected patients, contaminated medical equipment, or even airborne particles.Patients with weakened immune systems, those requiring prolonged …

Evaluating Linezolid: A Comprehensive Analysis
Abstract: Treatments for infections caused by Gram-positive bacteria, such as methicillin-resistant staphylococci and VRE, including skin and soft tissue infections, community-acquired pneumonia, and other infections treated with linezolid, an oxazolidinone antimicrobial agent that functions by specifically inhibiting protein synthesis. Even while antibiotic resistance is becoming more frequent in many nations, linezolid resistance among these pathogens is still low, typically less than 1%. Thus, the emergence of resistance in clinical isolates should …

Prevalence and Distribution of Staphylococcus Aureus in Clinical Samples Across Age Groups
Abstract: The bacteria that cause everything from ordinary skin infections to serious illnesses is called Staphylococcus aureus. It is now known that Staphylococcus aureus may develop resistance to a variety of drugs. Staphylococcus aureus has been displaying an unusual kind of resistance to antibiotics, especially to those based on β-lactum. As a result, Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA) is the new name for the resistant strain of Staphylococcus aureus. The prevalence …

Antimicrobial Resistance in Veterinary Medicine
Abstract: Antimicrobial resistance is a worldwide public health issue that impacts both human and animal populations. The use of antibiotics in veterinary medicine plays a significant role in the development and spread of antimicrobial resistance, contributing to resistant pathogens that impact both animals and humans. Antibiotics are widely utilized in animal husbandry, not only for treating diseases but also for preventing illness and enhancing growth in livestock. While this practice supports …

An Evaluation of Photodynamic Therapy in Dentistry with a Focus on Surgical Applications
Abstract: Throughout the centuries, various forms of light therapy have found applications in medical settings. These include phototherapy for neonatal jaundice, psoralen molecules combined with ultraviolet A light (PUVA) in dermatology, and techniques like photodynamic therapy (PDT) and photodetection. In recent years, the emergence of antibiotic-resistant strains, such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecalis, has necessitated the exploration of alternative treatment options. Photodynamic antimicrobial chemotherapy (PACT) has arisen as …
