Geotechnical Analysis and Performance Evaluation of Subgrade Materials in Road Construction
Abstract: Geotechnical engineering plays a pivotal role in the design, construction, and long-term maintenance of infrastructure, particularly in road construction, where subgrade conditions are directly linked to pavement performance, durability, and overall structural integrity. The performance of a road is heavily influenced by the geotechnical properties of the subgrade, making it essential to thoroughly assess these properties in the planning and construction phases. This study comprehensively investigates the geotechnical characteristics and …

The Effect of Quicklime on The CBR Value of Soft Soil Stabilized with Nickel Slag and Aluminium Hydroxide
Abstract: The construction of road structures on soft soils is prone to structural damage due to the low bearing capacity of the soil under the load imposed by vehicles. Chemical stabilization is a popular method used to increase the bearing capacity of soft soils. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of soft soil stabilization using a mixture of lime, nickel slag, and aluminium hydroxide to enhance soil bearing capacity. The …

Influence of ZycoTherm Dosage on Polymer Modified Bitumen and Marshall Performance of Hydrated Lime Incorporated Warm Mix Bituminous Concrete
Abstract: This study examines the effect of ZycoTherm on PMB 76-10 binder characteristics and the performance of PMB-based Bituminous Concrete (BC) Grade-II prepared at reduced mixing temperatures, with and without hydrated lime. PMB 76-10 was modified with ZycoTherm at dosages of 0.05%, 0.10%, 0.15%, and 0.20% by weight of binder and evaluated using conventional and residue-based tests. Increasing ZycoTherm dosage decreased penetration, while softening point, flash point, and elastic recovery increased, …

Comparative Study of Soft Soils Characteristics with Cement Waste Dust, Lime Powder and Boiled Rice Water
Abstract: Improvement of soft soil properties and effective pavement system performance of soft soils can be done only by stabilization process. It is an effective method. Jointly or individually, Chemical and/or Mechanical stabilization is done for various soils depending on the nature of that soil. As far as soft soils are concern, they are having reactive nature and so chemical stabilization is the best choice to improve such soil. Mainly, in …

Red Earth Development of a Soil-Based Composite Using Bagasse Ash and Lime: Effects on Plasticity and Compaction Characteristics of Red Earth
Abstract: The concept of sustainable soil composites (SSC) emerges through blending red earth with bagasse ash (BA) and hydrated lime to enhance geotechnical properties and enable productive reuse of agro-industrial waste. Red earth functions as the matrix, BA acts as a fine pozzolanic microfiller, and lime serves as the chemical binder. BA content ranges from 0% to 60%, with 10% identified as optimal; subsequent lime additions from 1% to 5% evaluate …

Sustainable High-Strength Geopolymer Composite Reinforced with Nano-Silica and Basalt Fibers: Mechanical and Microstructural Evaluation
Abstract: Sustainable soil composites (SSC) were formulated by incorporating red earth with varying proportions of bagasse ash (BA) and hydrated lime to enhance geotechnical performance and promote the reuse of agro-industrial waste. Red earth served as the primary structural matrix, BA functioned as a pozzolanic filler, and lime acted as a chemical stabilizer. BA content ranged from 0% to 60%, identifying 10% as the optimum level for significant improvement, and lime …

Enhancing the Strength of Black Cotton Soil with Enzyme and Industrial Waste
Abstract: Expansive soils are troublesome and prone to ground movements, which can cause substantial damage to underlying buildings as well as a loss in bearing capacity. Moisture fluctuation activates the expansive character of soils, causing it to swell and shrink. This has long been known in geotechnical engineering. To treat expansive soils, a variety of stabilizing additives such as lime, cement, and fly ash have been employed. In recent years the …

Soil Stabilized Road
Abstract: This research examines the suitability of soil-stabilized roadways for light vehicular movement, offering an economical and practical alternative for areas with limited infrastructure development. Stabilizing soil involves improving its engineering properties by incorporating additives such as cement, lime, or other binding materials. Through stabilization, the treated soil can achieve a compressive strength of approximately 5 N/mm², or 500 tonnes per square meter (t/m²), which is sufficient to support loads imposed …

Stone Waste as a Soil Stabilizer
Abstract: The rapid expansion of construction, mining, and stone-processing industries has led to the large-scale generation of stone waste materials such as marble powder, granite slurry, quarry fines, and sandstone residues. The indiscriminate disposal of these wastes poses serious environmental concerns, including land degradation, dust pollution, and contamination of surface and groundwater resources. At the same time, weak and problematic soils continue to present major challenges in geotechnical engineering applications, particularly …

Extraction and Characterization of Pectin from Malabar Tamarind, and Indian Wild Lime
Abstract: Pectin is a versatile heteropolysaccharide that is widely used in the food, pharmaceutical, and biomedical industries because of its gelling, stabilizing, and emulsifying properties. This review discusses the extraction of pectin from agro-waste peels of Malabar tamarind (Garcinia cambogia) and Indian wild lime (Citrus indica) using conventional acid hydrolysis under optimized conditions: pH 1.5–2.0, 85–90°C, and 90 minutes. The process resulted in 22.5% and 27.8% pectin yields, respectively, verified through …

Stabilization of Heavy Metal Sludge to Pass the TCLP Test Using Cement with a Sinter as a Additive
Abstract: According to the U.S. Stabilisation is the best-proven technology now in use, according to the Environmental Protection Agency's definition in Title 40, Part 268 of the Code of Federal Regulations (40 CFR 268).This method prevents harmful contaminants from leaking into the environment by physically and chemically trapping them all in a matrix. The investigations used 15 different water-mixed combinations of cement, fly ash, sinter, and lime. The study also examined …
