Enhancement of Mechanical Properties in Hemp Fiber-Reinforced Epoxy Composites Using Graphene Nanoplatelets
Abstract: This study investigates how incorporating graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs) influences the mechanical performance of hemp fiber–reinforced epoxy composites. Hemp fibers were chemically treated by alkali treatment to improve fiber–matrix adhesion owing to their high specific strength, stiffness, renewability, and environmental friendliness. Graphene nanoplatelets were dispersed in acetone by probe sonication and added to acetone epoxy matrix at a concentration of 0.5 wt% and 1.0 wt%, respectively. Composite laminates were prepared by …

Effect of hybridization on mechanical Characteristics of hemp, bamboo and jute reinforced epoxy bio composites
Abstract: In the present study, hemp, jute and bamboo fibres have been reinforced with epoxy resin to develop several bio-composites (hemp/epoxy, jute/epoxy, bamboo/epoxy, hemp/jute/epoxy, hemp, bamboo, epoxy and hemp/jute/bamboo/epoxy). Their mechanical characteristics (impact strength, flexural strength, and tensile strength) have been evaluated by conducting standardized ASTM tests on the fabricated bio-composite specimens. Among these, the hybrid epoxy composite reinforced with hemp, jute, and bamboo fibers has exhibited superior tensile and impact …

Bending and Single Edge Notch Bending Test (SENB) Investigation of Natural Fiber- Reinforced Epoxy Composites using Machine Learning
Abstract: The present study aims to determine the behavior of hemp fiber-reinforced epoxy composites in terms of bending behavior and fracture toughness under bending load resembles the substitutive behavior of existing synthetic composites. The fabrication was carried out by hand lay-up assembly of hemp fiber with Lapox-12 epoxy resin volume fraction of 60:40 fiber: matrix volume. Flexural testing revealed an average strength of 93.5 ± 2.8 MPa and SENB testing revealed …

Synergistic Effects of Hybridized Nano-Silica and Hemp Fiber Reinforcement on Bio-Epoxy Composites
Abstract: Natural fiber-reinforced bio-epoxy composites have become promising sustainable alternatives to conventional synthetic-fiber petroleum-based materials, but are often limited by low fiber-matrix interfacial bonding, low thermal stability, and high moisture absorption which limit their application in structural applications. These issues are discussed in this work, by carrying out a systematic investigation of the synergistic effects of the hybridization of nano-silica particles with alkali-treated hemp fibers in a bio-epoxy matrix the composites …

Fabrication and drilling characterization of Hemp & Grewia-Optiva hybrid composite and comparison with ANN model
Abstract: In recent days the use of natural fibers has increased over synthetic fibers due to various advantages. The alkali treatment for these natural fibers further improves the adhesion between fiber and matrix and greatly enhances the mechanical properties of the composite. The present study involves the fabrication of a hybrid composite using the alkali-treated (5% NaOH concentration) natural fibers – Hemp &Grewia-optiva as reinforcement material and epoxy as a matrix …

Strategic Enhancement of Composite Strength Explored Through Comprehensive Integration of Flax Fiber and Cenosphere in Epoxy Resin Matrices
Abstract: The Current research delves into the mechanical attributes of composite specimens, integrating flax fiber and cenosphere fillers within an epoxy resin matrix catalyzed by K-6 hardener. Executing a meticulous approach involving a vacuum bagging method and a specific formulation of 10 wt.% cenosphere, 50% epoxy resin, and 40% flax fibers, the study rigorously scrutinized tensile and flexural strengths. Notably, the first specimen exhibited a peak tensile strength of 94.329 MPa, …

Development and Mechanical Characterization of Hybrid Natural Fiber-Reinforced Polymer Matrix Composites for Structural Applications
Abstract: The growing demand for sustainable, lightweight, and cost-effective materials in engineering has driven significant interest in natural fiber-reinforced polymer composites (NFRPCs). Among various options, hybrid composites combining two or more natural fibers offer a balanced improvement in mechanical properties while maintaining environmental benefits. This study investigates the fabrication and mechanical performance of jute–hemp fiber-reinforced epoxy composites. Specimens were prepared using the hand lay-up technique followed by compression molding to ensure …

Mechanical Property Assessment of Hybrid Composite Laminates Composed of Jute Glass Fibers in Combination with Flax, Hemp, Sisal and Kenaf Fibers Using the Hand Layup Technique
Abstract: The present work compares the properties of various hybrid composite laminates manufactured using the hand layup technique and addresses their production process, based on glass fiber as the exterior layer and natural fibers (flax, hemp, kenaf, jute, and sisal) as interior layers, in an epoxy resin. Five stacking sequences A-GJJJJG, B-GFJJFG, C-GHJJHG, D-GKJJKG, and E-GJSSJG were used to prepare the test specimens. According to ASTM guidelines, experiments were performed to …

Performance and Robustness of Wind Turbine Blades Composed of Recovered Waste Carpet Fiber Polymer Composites
Abstract: Carpets stay in good condition for ten to fifteen years, after which they wear out and are discarded. The large amount of used carpet waste is often dumped in landfills, causing health risks, air pollution, and other environmental problems. To reduce the growth of landfill sites, it is essential to implement recycling measures for carpet waste, protecting the environment by reusing these materials in new products. Carpet are made from …
