Overcurrent Elimination and Current Ripple Reduction in Multi- Motor Systems Fed by Reduced Switch-Count VSI Using Advanced Scheme for High-Performance Drive Applications
Abstract: This paper proposed a novel control approach for overcurrent removal and reduction of current ripple for multi-motor systems powered by a Voltage Source Inverter (VSI) with a reduced switch-count. This approach significantly enhances the regulation of armature current with improved performance of the drive while improving the hardware utilization of the inverter. Simulation and analysis showed the capability of the scheme to improve power quality and improve system reliability, making …

Automatic Irrigation System on Sensing Soil Moisture Content
Abstract: AbstractIn developing countries like Bangladesh, farmers depend on rivers and rainfall to water their crops properly. Even though water pumps are used for irrigation purposes, the farmers have to operate those manually. In this paper, a system is proposed to reduce the human intervention as it will switch the motor on/off automatically after sensing the soil moisture content. Further system will allow the farmers to receive much needed rest and …

Reduced Switch Seven-Level Multilevel Inverter for Renewable Energy Applications
Abstract: The world is currently dealing with two majorissues. The first issue is a shortage of fossil fuels in the nearfuture, and the second is increased atmospheric pollution, which leads to an increase in ambient temperature (globalwarming), which necessitates the need to switch fromtraditional energy sources to renewable energy sources (RES).As the power generation from renewable energy sources isincreasing gradually, the importance of multilevel inverters isalso rising day by day for the …

Need For Renewable Source of Energy
Abstract: Our(human) demands are accelerating day by day for improving our lifestyles in terms of facilities and resources. For fulfilling these demands globally, we are still largely dependent on non-renewable resources of energy like coal and petroleum (fossil fuel) etc. In recent years, Renewable Source ofenergy is playing very important role in the production of potential energy. But with the unlimited use of fossil fuels, energy crises have arisen, especially in …

Room Light Controller with Bidirectional Visitor Counter
Abstract: With the speed at which technology is developing today, automation is essential for increasing productivity, preserving energy, and enhancing consumer ease. The concept and implementation of an automatic room light controller with a bidirectional visitor counter are presented in this study. By detecting the presence and quantity of people in a room, the device is designed to automatically adjust the lighting, cutting down on wasteful electricity use. Pairs of Infrared …

FPGA-based Multichannel Digital Duty-Cycle Modulation and Application to Simultaneous Generation of Analog Signals
Abstract: The DCM (duty-cycle modulation) is used in industrial electronics as a special technique for producing switching time-varying periodic waves, with variable pulse width and modulation period. As an implication, unlike the fixed period of a PWM wave, the cyclic ratio of a DCM signal changes as a function of the modulating input according to a known function. However, most existing research works related to DCM-based instrumentation systems, are limited to …

Advances and Challenges in the Development of High-performance Silicon Carbide (SiC) Power Devices
Abstract: Due to its distinct features, silicon carbide (SiC), a wide-bandgap semiconductor material, has attracted a lot of attention lately. SiC has superior electrical characteristics compared to silicon, making it an attractive material for high-performance power electronic devices. SiC-based devices can operate at higher temperatures, higher voltages, and higher switching frequencies, which can result in increased power density and efficiency. Recent advances in SiC device technology have led to the development …

A Factorial Investigation of Hyperparameter Tuning Strategies for Lasso- Based Genomic Prediction
Abstract: In an earlier comparative study of machine-learning methods for genomic prediction of wheat grain yield, we reported a counter-intuitive result: automated nested-cross-validation tuning of the Lasso regularization penalty reduced mean predictive ability relative to a fixed, arbitrarily chosen penalty (mean Pearson r falling from 0.408 to 0.349 across four environments), the opposite of the expected effect of hyperparameter tuning. We hypothesized two possible explanations at the time — high-variance penalty …

Software and Hardware Implementation of Quasi z Source Inverter in DC-DC Converter with DC Motor as Load
Abstract: DC/DC power converters are employed in applications like telecom, industrial, automotive, military, aerospace and motor drives. The dc/dc converter market is forecast to grow at a strong rate to $ 4.3 billion by 2016. The primary factor limiting the widespread application of low voltage producing renewable energy sources to motor load is interfacing of converter system. The traditional voltage source inverter (VSI) cannot be dealt without overrating of inverter because …
