Abstract

The world is currently dealing with two majorissues. The first issue is a shortage of fossil fuels in the nearfuture, and the second is increased atmospheric pollution, which leads to an increase in ambient temperature (globalwarming), which necessitates the need to switch fromtraditional energy sources to renewable energy sources (RES).As the power generation from renewable energy sources isincreasing gradually, the importance of multilevel inverters isalso rising day by day for the grid integration of powergenerated from renewable energy sources. In this paper, asingle-phase multilevel inverter is designed for the applicationof renewable energy sources like Photovoltaic and Fuel cells, etc. The chosen multilevel inverter configuration for the studyrequires a lower switch count to generate multilevel output. The sinusoidal pulse width modulation technique is employedfor generating control pulses for the multilevel inverter. Theperformance of the model is analyzed by simulation inMATLAB software.
