Effect of Crude Oil Concentrations and pH on Growth and Degradation of Crude Oil by Serratia marcescens and Micrococcus luteus
Abstract: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Two bacterial isolates Serratia marcescens and Micrococcus luteus were tested against the crude oil which was taken from a coastal area of Andhra Pradesh at Visakhapatnam ship yard. Bacteria showed optimum growth in the presence of the crude oil. The crude oil degrading bacteria Mirococcus luteus and Serratia marcescens were exposed to different pH conditions and growth was observed. Effect of …

Changes of Super Oxide Dismutase Activity in Hemolymph, Hemocytes and Fat Body of Silkworm (Bombyx mori L.) Challenged by Micrococcus luteus and Escherichia coli
Abstract: The hemolymph, hemocytes and fat body of the silkworm, Bombyx mori L. were determined for superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity following bacteria Micrococcus luteus and Escherichia coli challenged using a photochemical assay system consisting of methionine, riboflavin, and p-nitro blue tetrazolium. The in vitro reduction of nitro blue tetrazolium by superoxide to formazan was measured spectrophotometrically in Bombyx Mori. Hemolymph, hemocytes and fat body were in response to various immune elicitors. …

Encapsulation of Karela Extract in Polymer Nanoparticles
Abstract: Karela (Momordica charantia) fruit extract possesses promising antibacterial properties. However, its direct application can be limited by factors like degradation and uncontrolled release. This study explores the encapsulation of Karela extract within biocompatible and biodegradable polymeric nanoparticles as a potential strategy to enhance its efficacy. The research investigates the development of nanoparticle systems using various polymers and their impact on the stability, controlled release, and antibacterial activity of the encapsulated …

Exploring the Bioactive Potential of Himalayan Lichens: Phytochemical and Antimicrobial Profiling of Xanthoparmelia tinctina and Pyxine subcinerea Extracts
Abstract: The symbiotic association that develops between cyanobacteria, algae, and fungi results in the composite organism known as lichens, which has traits similar to those of plants but differs in its separate parent organisms. Lichens can have a variety of morphological characteristics, including foliose structures that resemble flat leaves, crustose structures that resemble flake crystals, fruticose branches that have short, leafless branches, and leprose-powder-like appearances. Due to their therapeutic potential, lichens …
