Preliminary Phytochemical and Acute Toxicity Studies of Different Extracts of Guiera Senegalensis
Abstract: The leaf of Guiera senegalensis is used in the management of many diseases in Nigeria and many African countries, but the medial lethal doses (LD50) of its different extracts are not widely investigated. To evaluate the phytochemical constituents and acute toxicity indexes of aqueous, hexane, dichloromethane and methanol leaf extracts of G. senegalensis, basic phytochemical screening methods were applied. While up and down procedure and Lorke’s method was used for …

Impact of Pesticides in Commercial Bee Farming: A review
Abstract: The presence of honey bees in the environment has a significant impact on global food production. Honey bees pollinate 71 crops out of 100 most common crops that account for 90% of the world's food supply, which makes them efficient pollinators of crops. While searching for pollen and nectar, the bee is often unprotected from several chemical toxins such as plant protection products. These chemicals enter their body via a …

Phytochemical, Acute Toxicity and Heavy Metals Evaluation of Khaya senegalensis (Desr.) A. Juss (Meliaceae) Stem Bark
Abstract: The present work was aimed to determine the phytochemical constituents, median lethal dose (LD50) and levels of heavy metals in Khaya senegalensis stem bark obtained from Kano State, Nigeria. The preliminary phytochemical screening revealed the presence of steroids, terpenoids, alkaloids, anthraquinones, saponins, phenolic compounds and carbohydrates, while the LD50 of the aqueous stem bark extract was above 5000 mg/kg body weight using OECD and Lorke’s method. The heavy metals analysis …

The Acute Toxicological Effects of Paraquat on Male Reproductive Hormones (Testosterone, Luteinizing Hormone and Follicle Stimulating Hormone) of Intoxicated Rats
Abstract: Paraquat (PQ) a contact herbicide widely used to control weeds in agricultural, recreational, or industrial sites has been linked in various studies as a contributory agent to high male infertility in regions of most use. The current study investigated the acute toxicity effect of PQ administered intraperitoneal (ip.) on reproductive hormones; luteinizing hormone (LH), follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and testosterone (Te) of male rats. 24 rats, grouped four per group …

Aluminum Oxide Nanoparticle-Adjuvanted Pasteurella multocida B:2 Vaccine is Potent and Efficacious and is Able with Keyhole Limpet Hemocyanin as a Marker to Differentiate Infected from Vaccinated Animals (DIVA)
Abstract: Pasteurella multocida B:2 causes hemorrhagic septicemia (HS) in bovines in Asia. For effective implementation of HS control program in India, a safe and efficacious vaccine to provide long lasting protection and allow differentiation of infected from vaccinated animals (DIVA) has to be developed. The objectives of the present study were to develop HS-DIVA vaccine with a companion immunodiagnostic test using keyhole limpet hemocyanin (KLH) as a marker, and to improve …

Effect of Beta Asarone–The Active Principle of Acorus Calamus in Neuroprotection and Nerve Cell Regeneration on the Pyramidal Region of Hippocampus in Mesial Temporal Lobe Epileptic Rat Models
Abstract: Epilepsy is a common chronic neurological disorder with seizures. About 1% of people worldwide (65 million) have epilepsy and nearly 80% of cases occur in developing countries [1]. MTLE is the major form of focal epilepsy associated with hippocampal atrophy or sclerosis. For this study we produced a model of mesial temporal epilepsy sterotaxically by inducing kainic acid into the right hippocampus. For this study animals were divided into seven …

Alteration in Metabolic Enzymes of Albino Rats under Cadmium Stress and their Modulation by Mentha Piperita
Abstract: Cadmium is a heavy metal posing severe risks to human health without any physiological function in the human body. Cadmium is found regularly in soil, rocks and ores, thus natural exposure is an important aspect, but increasing industrial application has put it in the category of bio-hazardous metals. Anticorrosive agents, stabilizer in PVC products, colour pigments, neutron-absorber in nuclear power plants, the fabrication of nickel-cadmium batteries and Phosphate fertilizers carry …

Scorpion Poison-A Clinical Review
Abstract: Scorpion Venom is a Tasteless. It is slightly acidic in nature. The initial drop is more or less colourless but the subsequent one are translucent in normal conditions. The striated muscles in the stinger allow regulation of the amount of venom ejected, which is usually 0.1-0.6 mg. The venom dries up into a powdery mass, which later forms elongated whitish crystals, which gets dissolved in water. Lethal dose of Mesobuthus …

Nano-Therapeutics in Diabetes Mellitus: Revolutionizing Diagnosis, Treatment, and Drug Delivery
Abstract: Diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder in which blood glucose concentration remains high over an extended duration, resulting in significant lethal complications, including neuropathy, nephropathy and cardiovascular diseases. However, conventional diabetes management strategies, including insulin therapy and oral hypoglycemic agents, rarely exhibit poor bioavailability, high doses, off target delivery, etc. Nanotechnology has brought the rise of diabetes treatment revolution, by overcoming the challenges present in standard treatment, owing to …

Cytotoxic, Anthalmintic and Analgesic Activities of the Methanol Extract of Ricinus communis (Family: Euphorbiaceae)
Abstract: The aim of this study was to evaluate the phytochemical screening, cytotoxicity, anthelmintic activity and analgesic properties of the methanol extract (leaves) of Ricinus communis (Family: Euphorbiaceae). The methanol extract of the leaves showed mild cytotoxic activity with the LC50 value 6.456 µg/mL compared to vincristine sulfate (LC50 0.812 µg/mL) using brine shrimp lethality bioassay. The anthelmintic activity was performed by observing the time of paralysis and the time of …

Toxicological Profiling and Safety Assessment of NASAT 2.0: A Conceptual Framework for Adaptive Nanoparticle Therapy in Rabies
Abstract: Rabies, caused by the highly neurotropic Rabies lyssavirus, remains one of the most enigmatic and universally lethal infectious diseases known to modern medicine. Once clinical symptoms manifest following successful neuroinvasion, the fatality rate approaches absolute certainty (approximately 99.9%), a staggering statistic that has remained largely unchallenged despite massive, concurrent advances in modern virology, critical care medicine, and cellular immunology. Current late-stage therapeutic protocols, most notably the widely debated Milwaukee Protocol, …
