Evaluation of Mucoadhesive Polymers for Nasal Delivery of Herbal Bioactives
Abstract: A study assessed mucoadhesive polymers for intranasal herbal bioactive administration with higher residence time and mucosal permeability. Chitosan, Carbopol® 934P, and HPMC K15M were utilized to manufacture mucoadhesive nasal gels with standardized herbal bioactive fractions. Formulations were examined for pH, viscosity, spreadability, drug content, mucoadhesive strength, in-vitro release, ex-vivo penetration, and short-term stability. All formulations demonstrated a suitable pH for nasal usage and uniform drug content (97.48 ± 1.12% to …

Design and Development of Sustained Release Tablets using Solid Dispersion of Beclomethasone Dipropionate
Abstract: In present study an attempt was made to enhance the solubility of beclomethasone dipropionate by solid dispersion method followed by formulating sustained release matrix tablet of beclomethasone dipropionate to improve the patient compliance. Beclomethasone dipropionate has poor water solubility and short elimination half-life hence solid dispersion of beclomethasone dipropionate were prepared with β-cyclodextrin and PEG 6000 as carrier by using physical mixture, solvent evaporation and kneading method. The prepared solid …

A Novel Liquid Crystal Drug Delivery for Transdermal Application
Abstract: The present study was aimed at the formulation of liquid crystals of acyclovir that will be incorporated into a transdermal patch. Liquid crystals serve as drug carrier and have a good penetration-enhancer property, due to the extensive similarity of these colloidal systems with the intercellular lipids in the stratum corneum. The liquid crystals were prepared using tween 80 as emulsifier, cetosteryl alcohol as emulsion stabilizer and double-distilled water. Liquid crystals …
