Study on Extraction and Purification of Phytochemicals from Eichhornia Crassipes Leaves
Abstract: Eichhornia crassipes is an aquatic plant that belongs to Pontederiaceae family. It is commonly known as water hyacinth. This annoying plant has been a recurring issue that should have been managed. In comparison to other natural plants and fibers, the seeds of these plants may survive up to 28 years at the water’s surface and have developed extremely quick growth properties. The water hyacinth is regarded as the world’s most …

Performance Evaluation of Eichhornia crassipes and Pista Stratiotes for Treatment of Aquaculture Wastewater
Abstract: The significance of wastewater management and disposal in aquaculture is growing steadily as a result of strict water regulations pertaining to the release of waste into natural water systems. The conventional methods are expensive to manage and thus, it is not sustainable especially in the developing countries. Therefore, the objective of this research is to utilize Eichhornia crassipes (Water hyacinth) and Pistia stratiotes (Water lettuce) in phytoremediation techniques as an …

Water Hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) as Phytoremediator of Abattoir Contaminated Effluents
Abstract: The abattoir industry provided meat for more than 170 million Nigerians and job opportunities for teeming population. It has also been categorized as one of the industries responsible for major pollution of soil and water resources. The aim of this study was to analyze the pollutants present in the effluents from the selected abattoir and evaluate the effectiveness of water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) in removing these pollutants. The experiment was …

Water Hyacinth-Derived Biopolymers as Reinforcements for Sustainable Fiber-Reinforced Polymer Composites
Abstract: Composting has gained significant attention for sustainable waste management and nutrient recycling. This study investigated the efficacy of water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) as a composting material to produce nutrient-rich organic fertilizer. Water hyacinth compost inoculated with nitrogen-fixing (Azotobacter chroococcum) and phosphate-solubilizing bacteria (Pseudomonas putida) exhibited increased nitrogen and phosphorus content compared to uninoculated compost or cattle dung compost. Wheat grown with biofertilizer-enriched water hyacinth compost displayed significantly improved grain yield, …
