Experimental Investigation of Dilution Control Using Advanced Gas Metal Arc Welding Process
Abstract: This work investigates the amount of reduction in dilution by using Advanced Gas Metal Arc Welding (AGMAW) process. Dilution is the ratio of area of the base metal melted to the total area of weld bead measured across a given weld bead cross section. Dilution is one of the most important factors governing the success of any surfacing operation and is expressed in percentage. The AGMAW is a self-coined word …

Investigation of Miniature Venturi Flume
Abstract: A venturi flume is a device used to measure discharge in open channel. It consists of a convergent section followed by throat and a diverging section. The venturi flume normally occupies full width of channel on actual field. The present study proposes a new design of miniature venturi flume with reduction in width. The width reduction ratios of miniature flume to channel width (b/B) considered in the project are 0.33, …

Flood Analysis Using Integrated HEC-RAS and GIS: A Case Study of Nashik city, India
Abstract: The developmental activities in the urban areas are severely affecting the river flow pattern of the rivers; especially the rivers which pass through the urban habitation are causing heavy floods. The effect of encroachment in the city limits due to urbanization reduces the flow path of rivers causing flooding in adjacent areas. The available data indicates that causalities due to increased frequency of occurrence of flood have increased from 1000 …

Seismic Analysis of Prestressed Concrete Bridge Subjected To Ground Motion Using Time History Method
Abstract: The use of continuous concrete box girder bridges has increased recently. In construction of this type bridges having constant or variable section height, the cantilever method can be applied. Box girder section forms consist of single or more box girder based on bridge wide. The cantilever method is considered as the natural and logical solution in construction of box girder bridges. There are two basic alternatives in the cantilever method: …

Economical Analysis of Lime and Fly Ash Stabilized Flexible Pavements
Abstract: India is experiencing tremendous growth in infrastructure including road network and highways. Roads are to be designed with good reliability to fulfill the long-term performance during the design period. Most of the time flexible pavements in India need to be constructed on problematic subgrade soil. Such subgrades have low California bearing ratio which leads to more pavement thickness. Decrease in availability of suitable sub-base and base course materials for highway …

Simulation Study of Construction Work Zones – A Case Study
Abstract: Rapid infrastructure development paves way to widening and strengthening of highways. During this process, construction work zones are encountered. Speed in the construction work zones is a vital factor to be focused upon, especially on highways. If the speed is high, fatal accidents will occur in the work zone and if it is too low, it will contribute towards the delay, followed by increased queue lengths and thereby increased vehicle …

Slope Stability Analysis by Swedish Slip Circle Method Using C-Programming
Abstract: The side slopes of an earthen dam should be safe against shear failure. Out of the various methods of stabilityanalysis of slopes, “Swedish Slip Circle Method” is commonly used in practice. Here in the Swedish circlemethod, potential failure surface is assumed to be cylindrical in shape (i.e., circular in cross section). Afterdetermining the actuating and resisting forces for assumed failure surface, the factor of safety is calculated. Theslope is considered …

Exploring Lightweight and Earthquake-resistant Construction with Ferrocement Sandwich Panels
Abstract: The creation of sandwich panels made of ferrocement as non-load-bearing building components is examined in this study. The sandwich panels had one layer of wire mesh netting between two thin pieces of ferrocement for reinforcement. Two thin ferrocement layers strengthened with a thermocol sheet made up the sandwich sections. The two iron lattice sections were connected by steel wires. Three sandwich panels in total were made. Compared to traditional masonry …
