Improvement of Indirect Vector Control Induction Motor Drive Performance under Low Speed Operation using Five-Level Inverter
Abstract: The dynamic performance of vector controlled induction motor drive is poor and peak motor torque decreases under low speed operation. This reduction in torque is due to the non-linearity of voltage to frequency (Hz) during low frequency operation. The non-linearity is caused by stator voltage drop which in turn requires a larger percentage of overall terminal voltage. To overcome these problems multilevel inverter fed induction motor drive is presented in …

Maximum Power Point Tracking of a Variable Speed Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator Based Wind Energy Conversion System
Abstract: Wind turbines produce maximum power at the optimal tip-speed ratio. Fixed speed wind turbines are inefficient because the turbine blades rotate at a specific mechanical speed irrespective of the prevailing wind speed. The system is therefore, not able to extract the maximum possible amount of power. In this work, a maximum power point tracking scheme for a variable-speed permanent magnet synchronous generator based wind energy conversion system is implemented in …

Design and Simulation of Discrete Time Optimal Speed Control for an Induction Motor Taking Core Loss and Stray Load Losses into Account
Abstract: Generally, the core loss and stray load loss are neglected in the mathematical model of induction motor (IM) to design the decoupling torque and flux control strategy. In order to precisely control the torque and flux, core loss and stray load loss, which are generally neglected, should be considered in the mathematical model of IM to design the controller. Some of literatures have shown how the detuning can be done …

Experimental Investigation of Effect of Soil Structure Interaction on Buildings
Abstract: In the conventional analysis and design, buildings are generally considered to be fixed at their bases, but in actual practice, the support condition depends on the type of soil on which it is founded. The flexibility of the soil medium allows the movement of soil and foundation, which decreases in the overall stiffness of building frames and results in a subsequent increase in natural periods of the system. Thus, the …
