Abstract

This paper focuses on the development of wind turbine system and extracting maximum power for variable speed constant frequency  grid connected wind turbine power system with doubly fed induction generator. A voltage oriented control scheme is used for the control of both rotor side and grid side circuit. Pitch control mechanism is implemented for the power limitation at a wind speed greater than the rated speed. The DFIM stator side is conncected to the grid directly, which delivers 70% of the total active power to the grid.  The rotor side of DFIM is connected to the grid through a back to back voltage source converter which delivers 30% of the active power to the grid. This wind turbine power system is modeled and simulated in the Matlab/Simulink. Keywords: Wind turbine power system, Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT), Doubly-Fed Induction Machine (DFIM), Stator Voltage Oriented Control (SVOC), Grid Voltage Oriented Control (GVOC)
