Abstract: This study examines the influence of carbon fibre incorporation on the mechanical properties of M30-grade concrete. A series of experimental investigations were conducted to assess the effects of varying carbon fibre content on compressive, split tensile, and flexural strengths. The results indicate a significant enhancement in mechanical performance with the inclusion of carbon fibres, with the optimum fibre dosage identified as 0.75%. At this content, the concrete achieved a peak …

E-Waste Toxicity and Its Environmental Impact, Challenges, and Solutions for Sustainable Waste Management in India
Abstract: Introduction: E-waste describes any electronic component that is obsolete or no longer functional. The ever-increasing public concern of e-waste in India stems predominantly from the aggressive expansion of the electronics industry along with insufficient recycling and disposal practices. Lead, mercury, and cadmium in e-waste pose serious risks to human health and the environment by polluting air, soil, and water. Informal recycling methods further exacerbate these hazards through unsafe practices. This …

Evaluating the Role of Platelet Indices, with a Focus on Immature Platelet Fraction (IPF), in Differentiating Hyper-Destructive and Hypo-Productive Thrombocytopenia: A Study from Ludhiana, Punjab, India
Abstract: Background: Thrombocytopenia, characterized by a reduction in platelet count, is commonly observed in clinical settings. Its etiology can be broadly classified into hyper-destructive thrombocytopenia, where platelets are destroyed at an accelerated rate, and hypo-productive thrombocytopenia, where platelet production is impaired. Differentiating between these two causes is essential for effective management. The Immature Platelet Fraction (IPF) has emerged as a promising non-invasive diagnostic tool to distinguish these causes. Objectives: The primary …

Corrosion Measurement and Hardness Test of Magnesium-Tri Calcium Phosphate Composite Fabricated by Stir Casting
Abstract: Magnesium MMC is preferred in applications requiring high-quality materials and has replaced monolithic materials. Bio-implants traditionally used are titanium, steel, and nickel-titanium alloys, however, their removal necessitates surgery, which is costly and painful. While biodegradable 3D-printed implants are effective and eliminate the need for a second surgery, they remain expensive. After several studies to solve this issue, the development of biodegradable implants is considered. Magnesium possesses good biodegradable properties. An …

Live Epidemiological Tracking of COVID-19 in Senegalese Participants of the Hajj
Abstract: Background: Since the COVID-19 outbreak, global efforts have focused on controlling the disease. However, intense cross border movements pose a risk for the emergence of new SARS-CoV-2 strains. A recent example is the detection of cases among the 2024 Senegalese pilgrims returning from Mecca, Saudi Arabia. Investigations of these cases have revealed genomic evolution of the virus. The lack of surveillance may lead to the emergence of high-threat strains. This …

In-Silico Docking of Rubia cordifolia Phytocompounds as Potential MMP-2 Inhibitors for Varicose Vein Management
Abstract: Varicose veins are one of the most common disorders, affecting the vein structure and function of lower limbs, yet there has been no absolute cure found yet. One of the underlying causes for worsening of the condition is the proteolytic activity of MMPs which are a group of enzymes that affect the extracellular matrix (ECM) surrounding the affected veins. Phytocompounds of Rubia cordifolia (Manjishta) were docked against the MMP-2 protein …
