A Lightweight Cost-Sensitive Explainable Ensemble Framework for Early Heart Disease Risk Prediction
Abstract: Cardiovascular disease is still one of the leading causes of death, and hence, the early prediction of risk is a very important task in preventive medicine. Although recent studies have shown encouraging results in the application of machine learning algorithms to the prediction of heart disease, it has been noticed that most of the algorithms are more concerned with accuracy-driven optimization than the concerns of safety and false negatives. In …

Asymptotic Notations: A Review
Abstract: Asymptotic notations play a fundamental role in assessing the efficiency and performance of algorithms, particularly as input sizes grow larger. This paper delves into three key asymptotic notations: Big O, Theta, and Omega, which are essential for understanding the upper, average, and lower bounds of an algorithm’s runtime. Big O notation specifically helps in determining the worst-case scenario of an algorithm’s growth rate, providing an upper bound on time or …

Cow’s Milk Allergy: Prevalence, Diagnosis, and Alternative Formulations
Abstract: Cow’s Milk Allergy (CMA) occurs when the immune system reacts to proteins in cow’s milk, like casein and whey. In individuals with CMA, the immune system wrongly perceives these proteins as threats, causing allergic reactions when cow’s milk is consumed. Unlike lactose intolerance, which results from the body’s inability to digest lactose – a sugar in milk – due to a deficiency of the enzyme lactase, CMA is an immune …

PAPR Reduction using Selective Mapping Method for OFDM Communication Systems
Abstract: AbstractSelective mapping method (SLM) is one of the most important techniques used for peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) reduction of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) communication system. It is simple in implementation, gives distortionless transmission and reduces PAPR significantly. Mathematical modelling and Matlab simulation have been carried out to analyse its performances. At of CCDF, PAPR values for OFDM signal without applying any reduction technique is 11.5, 11.8, 12.1, 12.4 and …

A Brief Review on Herbal Excipients
Abstract: Natural or herbal excipients are significantly more advantageous than their synthetic equivalents because they are readily available, non-toxic, and less expensive. The pharmaceutical industries are becoming more interested in using these herbal excipients – mainly polymers of natural origin – in formulation development because of growing knowledge of them. The purpose of this study is to provide light on the possibility of using natural excipients, which are biocompatible and able …

Effect of Diarrhea at Admission on Time to Recovery in Treatment of Severe Acute Malnourished Children in Inpatient Therapeutic Feeding Program in Tigray Region, Ethiopia
Abstract: The mortality rate in inpatient settings remained unacceptably higher, 20–30% for marasmus and 50–60% for Kwashiorkor. This is due to inappropriate case management and co-morbidities mainly diarrhea. Despite, there was no study conducted to show the effect of diarrhea at admission on the length of time to recovery in the treatment of severe acute malnutrition among children aged 6–59 months and then there is little understanding about this issue.
