Applications of Nanomaterials in Membrane Separation for Effluent Treatment in the Textile Industry
Abstract: The textile industry makes a significant contribution to economic growth. As the global population continues to increase exponentially, production rates are also on the rise to meet this growing demand. Unfortunately, this surge in production often leads to noncompliance with environmental regulations. While the textile industry supports economic development, it also contributes to serious pollution. Various dyes, such as azo dyes, Congo Red (CR), Crystal Violet, methylene blue, and methyl …

Phytase enzyme and its remarkable effects on chicken health
Abstract: Phytase enzyme catalyzes the hydrolysis of Phytate to mono, di, tri, tetra and penta Phosphate of Myoinositol and Inorganic Phosphate. Cereals, legumes and oilseeds are the main ingredients of animal feed. Phytic acid or phytate is the chief storage form of phosphorus in the feed obtained from these plant sources. Phytate bound important mineral, metal ions and amino acids with it, and in this way it is anti-nutritional element. Simple …

Demonstration of Percentage Reduction of Petroleum Hydrocarbon Remediation in Soil using Ponderosa Lemon Leaf as Bio-stimulant
Abstract: The study of the performance of bio-remediant was demonstrated in terms of percentage reduction of petroleum hydrocarbon remediation in soil using ponderosa lemon leaf as bio-stimulant. The bio-stimulant was introduced into two environmental conditions of room-dried and sun-dried sample and the impact of the environmental factor was considered in the contributing agent on the variation in the rate of the total hydrocarbon degradation as well as the variation in the …

Harnessing Marine and Agro-Waste Resources: Bioengineered Seaweed Polysaccharide–Coconut Films for Next-Generation Sustainable Packaging
Abstract: The increasing demand for biodegradable alternatives to petroleum-based plastics has led to significant interest in marine biopolymer-based packaging materials. This study focuses on the development of eco-friendly biocomposite films by reinforcing carrageenan, extracted from Kappaphycus alvarezii, with alkali-treated coconut at varying loadings (5%, 10%, and 15% w/w). The films were fabricated via solvent casting and subjected to comprehensive characterization. Mechanical analysis revealed substantial enhancement in tensile strength from 21.3 MPa …

Waste, Pollution and Path to Sustainability
Abstract: In the 21st century, waste management has emerged as one of the most critical environmental challenges due to rapid industrial growth, changing consumption patterns, and increasing urbanisation. Improper handling and disposal of waste significantly contribute to air, water, and soil pollution, posing serious threats to human health and the well-being of mankind. The uncontrolled dumping of solid waste, open burning, and discharge of untreated industrial effluents release toxic substances and …

Livestock and Landscapes: Rethinking Carbon Sequestration Synergies for Transforming Livestock-Raising Paradigm
Abstract: The livestock sector plays a critical role in global agricultural systems, but its impact on climate change is a growing concern due to significant greenhouse gas emissions, particularly methane and nitrous oxide. As the demand for livestock products continues to rise, rethinking current practices becomes essential to mitigate environmental degradation and enhance sustainability. This study examines the synergies between livestock farming and carbon sequestration strategies within global landscapes, with a …

Bioremediation Strategies to Address the Menace of Oil Spills
Abstract: Bioremediation is an innovative and effective process that leverages the capabilities of microorganisms to address and mitigate contamination in both soil and water environments. This technique is particularly valuable in the context of surface oil spills, where it presents significant advantages over traditional physical and chemical remediation methods. Unlike physical methods, which often involve the use of barriers and skimmers to remove oil from the surface, or chemical methods, which …

Screening of Pharmaceutically Significant Methioninase-Producing Fungi from the Satpura Range of Hoshangabad District and Its Large-Scale Production
Abstract: L-methioninase, an enzyme with notable anticancer properties, has emerged as a promising therapeutic agent due to its ability to selectively degrade methionine, a critical amino acid for the survival of methionine-dependent cancer cells. Methionine dependency, observed in many tumor cells, is a metabolic vulnerability that can be exploited for targeted cancer therapy. The Satpura Range in the Narmadapuram District, India, with its diverse microbial ecosystems, offers a rich reservoir for …

Degradation of Building Materials by Corrosive Pollutants
Abstract: Fiber reinforced polymers (FRP) is used for the corrosion suppression of reinforced concrete structures (RCS). One of the main issues with reinforced concrete constructions is corrosion. It interacts with acids, alkalis and salts to produce disintegration in building materials components. Pollutants and effluents speed up disbanding inside and outside reinforced structures. Bio-wastes come in contact of building materials to develop miro and macro-organism and these organisms release acid substances to …
