Influence of the Modification of Resol Phenolics on the Properties of Glass and Cotton Fiber Laminates
Abstract: Fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) composite based on resol phenolics awaits special attention due to excellent inherent properties of the resol phenolics. In this study, modified resol phenolics by unsaturated polyester (UP) and epoxidised novolacs of simple phenol, o-cresol and p-cresol were used to fabricate glass and cotton FRPs. Abstract: This review examines the advancements in nanoparticle-reinforced fiber composites, focusing on natural fibers, synthetic fibers, hybrid composites, and fiber metal laminates (FMLs). Nanoparticles such as SiO₂, TiO₂, Al₂O₃, and graphene, introduced at 0.5–3% volume, have significantly enhanced mechanical, thermal, and wear properties.
