Review on Advanced Molecular Diagnostic Tools and Their Applications
Abstract: Although the diagnosis of diseases is still primarily based on conventional methods (staining, culture, biochemical analysis), a series of advanced molecular diagnostic tools are increasingly introduced and incorporated in the workflow of clinical laboratories worldwide. These tools, such as polymerase chain reaction, northern blotting, restriction length polymorphism, flow cytometry, southern blotting, fluorescent in situ hybridization, agarose gel electrophoresis and pyrosequencing that are based on either the properties of nucleic acids …

Amplification and in silico Study of Plasmodium vivax and Plasmodium falciparum LDH Gene
Abstract: Several arsenal as well as quinolone drugs are available for treatment of malaria; still it remains a worldwide public health problem. Malarial parasite quickly develops resistance under selective drug pressure. Hence, we require an array of new drugs for malaria treatment. Lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) is an essential enzyme for Plasmodia as they lack functional Krebs cycle in some stages of their lifecycle and thereby prove to be good targets for …

Sequence analysis, DNA Methylation and Molecular therapy of Oral cancer caused by Human Papilloma Virus
Abstract: DNA methylations with oral cancer are been associated with high-risk Human Papillomavirus (HPV) and Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) onco-proteins interactions may cooperate to increase disease severity. The work focused on human papillomavirus strain 16, a high-risk, sexually transmitted responsible for 95% of all cervical cancers and a large portion of oropharyngeal cancers. The prediction of genes from has shown seven genes from HPV16 strain. Based on gene identification studies, Human papilloma …

Association of Vitamin D Binding Protein BP rs2282679 Gene Polymorphism and Serum Levels of Vitamin D in Patients with Vitiligo
Abstract: For vitamin D to have an impact, the vitamin D receptor (VDR) must be expressed and activated in the nucleus. The VDR has several known genetic variants. Biological impacts can be caused by changes in DNA sequences known as "polymorphisms" that are common in the population. Vitiligo is a disease that causes loss of skin color in patches, and it is a chronic (long-lasting) autoimmune disorder loss of color. The …

Study of Anti-Leishmanial Activities of Metabolites on Leishmania major: A Structure-Based Drug Designing Approach
Abstract: Cutaneous Leishmaniasis is one of the major problem all over the world and has no suitable treatment to treat this disease. However, the range of drugs is limited and increased use of these drugs lead to multiple drug resistance and has posed a major concern. Here the genome sequences of Leishmania major (responsible for cutaneous Leishmaniasis) is identified for having few drug targets that are unique to these parasites. GPI …

A comprehensive study on interactions between protein molecules and their importance in Drug Discovery
Abstract: Protein-protein interactions (PPIs) are extremely specialized chemical and physical interactions that occur when two or more protein molecules come into contact with one another with the help of biochemical processes impacted by interactions between them, such as hydrogen bonding, electrostatic forces, and the hydrogen effect. Many interactions that occur in a specific bimolecular environment within a cell or living creature entail physical contact as well as molecular connections between chains. …

Real Time Characterization of BA.2.86 and Its Variant (JN.1) in Senegal Using Midnight Protocol
Abstract: During the week ending August 13th, 2023, the most prevalent variant of interest (VOI), uploaded to GISAID, was the BA.2.86 variant. This SARS-CoV-2 Omicron lineage was described as the first phylogenetically distinct from the currently circulating SARS-CoV-2 Omicron XBB lineages, including EG.5.1 and HK.3. Compared to the XBB and BA.2 lineages, the BA.2.86 possesses more than 30 mutations in the Spike (S) protein, suggesting a significant potential for immune evasion. …

Isolation and Characterization of “Heavy Chain Antibody” Variable Domain Gene of Indian Desert Camel (Camelus dromedarius, L.)
Abstract: Camelids have “heavy chain antibodies” (HCAbs) of IgG isotype (IgG2 and IgG3 subtypes) and lack light chains and heavy chain constant domain 1 (CH1) in their structure. The molecular biological features of VHH (i.e., antigen binding variable domain of HCAbs) gene isolated from Indian desert camel were examined as a prelude to construct VHHs-phage display library. VHH cDNA was synthesized by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) from B lymphocyte mRNA, …

CRISPR-Cas System: Next Generation Genome Editing Tool
Abstract: CRISPR-Cas system provides sequence specific adaptive immunity against phages and mobile genetic elements. Resistance is acquired following phage infection or plasmid uptake when short specific sequence is added into CRSIPR array. This complex guides cRNA to target complementary DNA fragments and target its degradation. CRISPR array is then transcribed and processed into cRNA which forms complex with cas protein. The ability of CRISPR-Cas system to induce site specific DNA breaks …

An Overview on Bioinformatics and its Application
Abstract: Bioinformatics has become an important part of many areas of biology. The term ‘Bioinformatics’ was coined by Paulien Hogeweg in 1979. In experimental molecular biology, bioinformatics techniques such as image and signal processing allow extraction of useful results from large amounts of raw data. In the field of genetics and genomics, it aids in sequencing and annotating genomes and their observed mutations. It plays a role in the text mining …

A Review on Junk DNA
Abstract: For many years, although being incredibly catchy, the term junk DNA discouraged mainstream scientists from exploring noncoding genetic material. Among humans, the DNA that actually codes for protein synthesis is 2% only. Hence, the noncoding region of genome is then termed Junk DNA. The junk DNA component is drastically different. Hence at the time of investigating the role of satellite DNA for the fertility and survival in pure species, the …

A Comparative in silico Study of the Glucose Transporters Predicts Ubiquitination of the Transporters at the C-Terminal End
Abstract: Glucose Transporters are a family of membrane spanning proteins that transports glucose from exterior of the cell to the interior of the cell through the plasma membrane. There are 14 glucose transporters known till now. Although the transporters belong to the same family but not all function in glucose transport. They are different from each other in primary amino acid sequence. However, there is similarity in the secondary as well …

Evolution and Impact of Forensic DNA Typing in Modern Investigation
Abstract: Forensic DNA typing is sometimes called DNA fingerprinting. Immigration, paternity, and criminal investigations use forensic DNA typing. Forensic genetics today includes bodily fluid identification, fast DNA analysis, forensic microbiology, and phenotypic profiling. Human cells contain DNA, a molecular code. Human DNA sequences are 99.9% the same in everyone. Every person has almost 0.1% unique DNA. Forensic experts also worry about this 0.1 percent of DNA that is unique. There are …
