Synthesis, Characterization and Photocatalytic Activity of Bismuth Doped Titanium Dioxide under Different Light Sources
Abstract: 800x600 Photocatalysis is a recognized approach where light energy is employed to excite the semiconductor material and produce electron-hole pairs. These electron-hole pairs eventually involves in the detoxification of pollutants (in air or water) & water splitting. TiO2 photocatalyst shows poor activity in visible light due to its wide band gap (3.2 eV), which restricts its use under Sun light. In the present work, photocatalytic activity of TiO2 was enhanced …

Toxicity Evaluation of a Few PAHs on a Local Freshwater Fish—Rasbora daniconius
Abstract: Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) have become ubiquitous pollutants of water resulting mainly from petroleum products. These are absorbed into the living systems and converted into secondary metabolites which show bioaccumulation in the living systems and have several deleterious effects on them. The present study attempts to evaluate toxicity of two such PAHs— Naphthalene and Anthracene—on the freshwater fish, Rasbora daniconius, using pure PAHs dissolved in dichloromethane. LC50 values were seen …

Effective Reduction of Emissions of a DI Diesel Engine fuelled with Biodiesel and Diesel Blends with Oxygenated Additives
Abstract: Fatty acid methyl ester, popularly called biodiesel, has become more prominent alternate fuel for diesel engines on the basis of single-fuel concept. Since use of neat biodiesel on a large scale is raising certain constraints, both in terms of long-term availability of feed stock, fertile land and high NOx emissions, biodiesel is being adopted in blended form with petro-diesel fuel as B20 or B40. However, the HC and NOx emissions …
