Clinical Evaluation of Efficacy of a Polyherbal Unani Formulation (Mentioned in Makhzan-Ul-Ilaj) in the Management of Warm-e-Lauzatain-Haad (Acute Tonsillitis)
Abstract: Background: Warm-e-Lauzatain-Haad (Acute Tonsillitis) is an inflammatory condition of the palatine tonsils characterized by throat pain, fever, odynophagia and general discomfort. It is particularly common among adolescents and young adults and contributes substantially to outpatient visits and missed academic or workdays. In Unani medicine Warm-e-Lauzatain is described as a hot inflammatory swelling arising from deranged humors, exposure to irritants or descending catarrhal matter. Classical Unani texts including Makhzan-ul-Ilaj, advocate the …

Gravel Scrap Tires Admixed Drainage Material in Landfill Leachate Collection System
Abstract: Amidst water for sustenance, underground water quality becomes further deterministic. The stance of its continual contamination due to infiltration, uncontrolled industrialization, unplanned inhabitation, etc., is making “quantity” meaningless unless maintenance of quality is addressed. One of the potent measures to combat this infiltration is creation of a semi-impervious media below the subsoil, which may regulate the outcome judiciously, and in a proffered way. The logistics, however, do not allow planned …

Microalbuminuria as an Independent Screening Tool in Patients with Myocardial Infarction
Abstract: Acute Myocardial Infarction (AMI) is a condition in which there is an inadequate supply of blood and oxygen to a portion of myocardium; most common cause being atherosclerosis of coronary vessels. Microalbuminuria (MAU) is defined as urinary albumin-to-creatinine ratio (UACR) of 30–300 mg/g. It is considered as marker of generalized endothelial dysfunction and vasculopathy and suggested to contribute to the formation of atherosclerotic lesion and ultimately leading to risk of …

Impact of Hexavalent Chromium on Histopathology in Freshwater Stinging Catfish Heteropneustes Fossilis
Abstract: Acute toxicity of Cr (VI) (as K2Cr2O7) to freshwater stinging catfish, Heteropneustes fossilis and its histopathological impacts on gill and liver tissue were evaluated. Fish showed behavioral alterations after K2Cr2O7 exposure and 96 h-LC50 was 35.724 mg/L in static bioassay. Fish were exposed to three sub-lethal concentrations (concentration I=1/4th of 96 h-LC50, concentration II=1/10th of 96 h-LC50 and concentration III=environmental concentration of Cr reported in the river Buriganga). Blood, liver …

Acute Ischemic Stroke: Diagnosis and Management Approach
Abstract: Stroke is the next chief reason of death worldwide and the foremost reason of debility, with a growing occurrence in emerging countries. Ischemic stroke produced by arterial obstruction is accountable for the majority of strokes. Management focuses on fast reperfusion with endovascular thrombectomy and intravenous thrombolysis, which together decreases debility but are time grave. The important primary stage in stroke maintenance is initial identification of patients with stroke and triage …

Homeopathy and Miasms: Exploring Their Vital Importance
Abstract: An individual’s susceptibility to disease is not solely an internal matter but is also profoundly shaped by a variety of external influences. These influences can be broadly categorized into meteoric factors – such as climate, weather changes, seasonal variations, and atmospheric conditions – and telluric factors, which include environmental and terrestrial elements like soil, water, living conditions, and geographical surroundings. When such external influences act upon the human organism, they …

Materials, Mechanism and Mechanical Properties of Self-curing Concrete: A Review
Abstract: Concrete, a key construction material with high demand for infrastructure development, necessitates an increased water input both during production and curing. This poses a challenge in areas facing acute water scarcity, highlighting the importance of research to reduce water consumption in the process. The process of hydration of the cement within concrete, without outside source, such as water for curing is referred to self curing. Improper curing will cause self …
