Image Compression via Non-separable Discrete Fractional Fourier Transform
Abstract: The main idea behind image compression is to reduce the bandwidth for transmission and required space for storage. Thus, image compression is of great importance. In this paper we present the image compression technique using Non-Separable Discrete Fractional Fourier Transform (NSDFrFT). Numerical simulation results suggested that image compression method using NSDFrFT as transform technique gives better performance for images when compression ratio is high in comparison to DFrFT and JPEG. …

Application of Compressive Sensing for Sampling and Reconstruction of MRI Images
Abstract: In recent years, a new theory of compressive sensing has evolved which asserts that super resolved signals and images can be recovered with far fewer samples than that demanded by the Nyquist sampling theorem. It is required that the signal being sensed has a low information-rate meaning that it is sparse in original or some transform domain. Former approaches capture the complete signal and process it to extract the information. …

Homogeneous Video Transcoding Functions for High-Efficiency Video Coding
Abstract: High-efficiency video coding (HEVC) is the successor of H.264/AVC and it gives the higher compression ratio and high quality video than H.264. But, HEVC increases the computational complexity of video coding due to its flexible quad tree partitioning structure. Transcoding algorithms are very much required to associate the HEVC standard into real applications. Homogeneous video transcoding is used for conversion between the same video formats. A higher quality video at …

Impact of Xilinx ISE Design Suite’s MAP and Generate Programming Optimization Settings on FPGAs Bitstream Size
Abstract: AbstractIn SRAM based FPGA configuration bitstream resides in configuration memory. Bitstream contains information of CLBs, IOBs and logic interconnects. With increase in complexity of design, size of bitstream increases. Hence if size of bitstream is reduced, less configuration memory required. CAD tools used in FPGA based design has different settings which affects logic capacity, performance speed, resource utilization, power consumption, area required for placing designs etc. In this paper, we …

Prediction of Mix Ratios for Grade 30 Superplasticized Concrete Using Osadebe’s Regression Model
Abstract: This study developed a model for estimating the compressive strength of grade 30 super-plasticized concrete. The regression model was built using a total of 15 experimental mix ratios. The results of compressive strength at 28 days from the concrete cubes were used for model development. Two cubes (150 mm × 150 mm × 150 mm) were produced per mix ratio, totaling 30 cubes for the 15 trial mix ratios. Osadebe’s …
