Community Perception on Land Dispossession and Compensation Practices: Evidence from Gondar City, Northwest Ethiopia
Abstract: Land expropriation for urban expansion in the Gondar area significantly reduced farming households from 95%–74%, displacing 29% of affected farmers. While some acknowledged the public benefits, most respondents criticized the process for a lack of transparency, limited community involvement, and inadequate rehabilitation support. Farmers reported receiving compensation that was low, unfairly calculated, and subject to prolonged delays. Key systemic issues included a lack of awareness among affected communities, inconsistent knowledge …

The Impact of Using High-Resolution Satellite Images on Improving Geographic Maps
Abstract: By integrating high-resolution satellite images into pre-existing mapping frameworks, this study tackles the problem of guaranteeing correctness and dependability in geospatial data updates. The main goal is to assess which satellite imagery sources—SuperView, Ikonos, QuickBird, and WorldView—are appropriate for updating maps at 1:2500 and 1:5000 scales. The process entails evaluating radiometric quality, geometric dependability, spatial correctness, and picture resolution and comparing the results to the specifications of different mapping tasks. …

Exploring Gelatin Film an Eco-Friendly Biomaterial: Synthesis, Characterization, and Environmental Applications
Abstract: This study explores the synthesis, characterization, and application of eco-friendly gelatin films, a sustainable and biodegradable biopolymer alternative to synthetic plastics. Synthesized via solution casting and characterized by UV-Vis spectroscopy, FTIR, and TGA, these films demonstrated excellent molecular integrity and thickness-dependent properties, with higher gelatin concentrations leading to thicker films and delayed solubility. The research highlights their significant potential in removing diverse environmental pollutants, including dyes (methylene blue, methyl orange), …

Following the Footsteps of Fiction: Studying the Role of Imagination and the Influence of Speculative Fictions in Technological Innovation and Scientific Development
Abstract: Since the dawn of civilization, human evolution has been fueled by imagination and innovation. From the moment of harnessing fire to crossing the orbital boundary, every step beyond the horizon was led by a visionary thought. Mankind journey from being hunters and gatherers to being the interstellar explorer was consistently driven by their ability to envision a reality beyond the present one. This paper examines how imagination has always preceded …

Linguistic Minimalism in Digital Communication: The Shrinking of Language in Hyper-Speed Communication Environments
Abstract: The digital revolution has fundamentally transformed linguistic practices, precipitating what we term "linguistic minimalism"—the systematic reduction of language to essential semantic components in hyper-speed communication environments. This research examines how contemporary digital platforms have catalyzed a contraction in linguistic expression through abbreviations, semantic compression, emoji symbolism, and strategic silence. Drawing on discourse analysis, pragmatics, and social semiotics, this study explores four interconnected dimensions: emojis and GIFs as primary meaning carriers, …
