Abstract

AbstractObjective: To formulate and evaluate ion activated in-situ gel of carbinoxamine maleate by hot method. Methods: Ion activated in-situ gel of carbinoxamine maleate were prepared by hot method. Optimization of carbinoxamine maleate in situ gel was performed using design expert software. Formulation and characterization of optimized batch of in situ gel were performed. Results: The pH of the formulation was found to be satisfactory. The drug content was within acceptable range. The drug release mechanism from the tablets was found to be non Fickian transport kind of diffusion. Conclusion: Optimized in situ gel was found to be clear with no apparent change in pH and good gelling capacity, drug content and in vitro drug release. Keywords: Carbinoxamine maleate, in situ gel, ion-activated system, ocular drug deliveryCite this ArticleArun RR, Abhiram A.
