Abstract

Benzothiazoles are an important biologically active heterocyclic compounds which contain six membered benzene rings fused with five membered thiazole rings at 1,4 positions. They possess various biological activities like Anti-microbial, Anti-fungal, Anthelmintic, Antioxidant and Anti-inflammatory activities. Benzothiazoles nucleus is believed to produce it’s Anti-inflammatory activity either by inhibiting Beta-2 receptors of Bradykinin or by inhibiting cox₂ enzymes (cyclooxygenase). The present review focuses on some methods of benzothiazoles synthesis and its Anti-inflammatory activity.
